Brian Williams Ribs Brooklyn Hipsters In New Video (VIDEO)

First Posted: 04/11/11 05:42 PM ET Updated: 06/11/11 06:12 AM ET

Brian Williams is keeping up his ribbing of Brooklyn hipsters in a new video that's airing in New York taxis.

The "NBC Nightly News" host made waves back in December when he mocked the New York Times for its constant articles about the newfound joys of Brooklyn. In the taxi video, he takes another aim at the newest breed of Brooklynite--the hipster:

"You're in luck. You happen to be here in New York... when the hipsters are out. If you want to blend in a little more thoroughly, get yourself a nice thick ironic glass frame. Go to one of those Marrakesh-like outdoor artisanal markets. Brooklyn's a festival this time of year. They're openly making handmade grilled cheese sandwiches, all kinds of leather goods, tin, silver, it's like a walk back in time!"

Brian Williams pretentiously mocks, yet again, what he thinks is pretentious.
Again. Over and Over. All Over. Cabs everywhere. Again and Again.
Hey Brian! How 'bout those handmade grilled cheese!? I'm still LOL over that. Handmade grilled cheese! You did say 'handmade' right? Unbelievable. Handmade! How does your mind work?
At first I thought you were dissing the New York Times. In fact, it has nothing to do with the New York Times. What a dodo one has to be to think that, it turns out. No, you just have a thing about people in ironic eyeglasses. Do you feel that way about people in non-ironic eyglasses, too? Maybe you'll say in a future taxi ride. It's just too hilarious.

Going on 14 years in Williamsburg and am can't wait to eventually move down to S. Slope/Kensington with my other half. The hipsters can be pretty douchy and annoying, but what has ruined the neighborhood are all the yuppies who want to be around the hipsters. The next realtor who sells a condo out here should be shot unless they give the buyers a pick ax and shovel so they can help dig another subway tunnel since the L is way over capacity.

I hate the yuppies, I dislike the hipsters and I'm not a fan of the gumbas, how I manage to live in New York City is a mystery to me

Hard-hitting, investigative journalism. That Brian Williams sure knows where to find it, doesn't he? No, I don't think so either.

I don't get it. Hipsters?? It looks like people wearing 2nd hand clothes from Goodwill are going to a flea market/garage sale. Is this the new urban thing? It looks like regular people having a normal day in a rural community. I know, I live in BFE and see it every day. :-)

I've lived in Brooklyn all my life...and I didn't mind this so much. Then again, I'm not a hipster. Although I do have glasses that I wear only for driving. But I like cheese. As an aside (like this whole post isn't an aside), that shot of the knight's armor helmet was really cool.

I would move back, and to be honest, never wanted to leave.

Don't let the smooth taste fool you.

What he fails to do is let people understand that they are basically quartered off in just a couple of neighborhoods. I like to call the hipsters in Williamsburg a term I read in a local free paper, "Trustafarians". Mainly because they tend to be a bunch of rich kids living off their parents wads of cash who are doing their best to look broke and smelly.

What is that expression?  "B. Williams is so yesterday".  I can't stand this guy and he is no more honest than any of them.  Is Fun er al voice and tone just make me ill.  yuk.

He's the only serious news person with a seriousl sense of humor. I know nothing about Brooklyn hipsters and the public grilling of cheese sandwiches, but I've seen him enough times being really quick witted as well as generous in spirit to know that he's a keeper.

Oh, and remember, we're not hating GE now; we're hating Comcast.

Remember: the last four letters of "artisanal" spell "anal".
