Eight women who "change the world" were celebrated at the New York Women in Communications' 2011 Matrix Awards Monday afternoon in a song-filled and celebrity-studded event at New York's Waldorf Astoria.
Sheryl Sandberg, Cindi Berger, Gwen Ifill, Robin Koval, Idina Menzel, and Abbe Raven were honored onstage at the Matrix event, which included a live video appearance by Betty White, who received a lifetime achievement award, and a surprise performance by John Legend. The Matrix Awards aim to honor "extraordinary achievements of outstanding women in the communications industry."
Arianna Huffington, Rosie O'Donnell, Paula Kerger, Linda Kaplan Thaler, Dana Tyler, and Mark Burnett presented the award winners together with awards ceremony host Lesley Jane Seymour, the editor of More magazine, who stepped in for Sandra Lee, unable to attend due to a family matter.
