Shoppers Rejoice: H&M To Open Thursday In Denver Pavilions

Swedish-based retailer H&M is set to open a flagship store in Denver Pavilions. It is scheduled to replace Niketown in late 2011, though no specific date has been announced yet.

UPDATE:

Fashion giant H&M will open their Denver Pavilions store this Thursday, November 10. The opening will be celebrated with gift cards for the first 500 customers and 'Street Style,' a fashion show sponsored by other Pavilions merchants. A press release mentions the event will also include a performance by Ballet Nuevo Colorado, a 'Cut & Sew Challenge' hosted by "Project Runway" contestant Fallene Wells, and an exhibit from the Denver Art Museum featuring work from the late French fashionista Yves Saint Laurent.

EARLIER:

"Securing H&M is a huge win for Downtown Denver," Tamara Door, President & CEO of the Downtown Denver Partnership, stated in a press release. "The first H&M in Colorado will naturally become a destination store, increasing the number of visitors to downtown, and serving as a catalyst for exciting new retail to open in the area. It is a wonderful foreshadowing of what is to come."

The full concept store will carry price-conscious fashionable clothing for men, women, teens and children, as well as lingerie, denim and accessories.

"For years, Coloradoans have made requests for the retail fashion leader H&M to open a store in Colorado," said Mark Sidell, President of Gart Properties, which owns Denver Pavilions. "H&M will be an incredible addition to our already strong line-up of retailers and we look forward to welcoming them to the Denver market."

The opening of H&M is also expected to positively impact downtown's economy with new jobs and increased tax revenue.

H&M first opened in Stockholm in 1947, and today operates out of 16 countries. The new location at Denver Pavilions will be their first Colorado store.
