The proprietors of Frankie's Spuntino make a sandwich that would have Robert Atkins spinning in his grave.
Saveur describes Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli' zucchini and pasta sandwich as "zuke sautée meets linguine cacio e pepe on a tender slab of pizza bianca."
"The sandwich was the thing that you realized was the easy way out and then you tried to make it more than a meal," Falcinelli says. "As you get older, the sandwiches became more elaborate and more intense and then they actually became better then the actual meal."
