Isla Fisher is in talks to join the cast of what is already a star-studded film adaptation of "The Great Gatsby."

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Fisher would play Myrtle, the woman with whom Tom Buchanan is having an affair. Ben Affleck is in talks to play Buchanan, a rich, shallow socialite.

As for those already confirmed for the film, Leonardo DiCaprio will take on the role of Jay Gatsby, the mysterious millionaire, while Carey Mulligan will take on Daisy Buchanan and Tobey Maguire will play Nick Carraway, the book's narrator and protagonist.

Director Baz Luhrmann announced in February that the film will be shot in 3D and in Australia.

The movie is slated to begin filming this fall.

Fisher recently lent her voice to the animated film "Rango," and will star in the upcoming comedy "Desperados."

It's a slap in the face deciding to film it in Australia and saying it will generate about two hundred miillion dollars for their economy. It's the "Great American Novel" the least he could of done was put aside his nationalistic pride and filmed it in New York. The bloody city the story is set in.

She is ridiculously pretty.

Anyhow, this is looking to be a possible winner of a film. Luhrman will need to reign in a lot of his outlandishness . But the cast is good, and it gives me a reason to read the book again, for the first time in decades.

If they re-make this movie right it could be great as this is one of the greatest stories ever written. Also, Isla Fisher would be a great Myrtle too, she is soo much cooler than her husband, how is she not in more movies.

Jon Hamm would have been a great addition to this film.

SERIOUSLY.

She could be right for that role. You know, I can envision a decent Gatsby movie, but none has been made yet and, for some reason, I'm not confident.

Will someone PLEASE cast her as a sister to Amy Adams?
10:28 PM on 04/19/2011
Agreed! I read this article earlier on another site, and even though I read "Isla Fisher," the whole time I was thinking, "Oh, Amy Adams! She will be great as 'Myrtle.'" Oops!

They have already played sisters plenty of times together.... oh wait that wasn't a film it was just...um :)

I'm sure the star filled movie will mangle the book. They should remake the Wizard of Oz. Their egos would be perfect for the land over the rainbow.

They're making a remake of a movie that flopped the first time out. Are they out of stories to tell?

They aren't remaking anything.

They are adapting a classic American novel. Just because someone else had done so previously doesn't make this a remake. Yeesh.

She is a good actress better than Kate Hudson.

So was Gary Coleman.

Ah this should be interesting. I could see her as Myrtle.

She has an older world look about her, good casting. My problem is with Toby Maguire and Di Caprio.

Nothing against either of their acting, but they both always look like little kids playing dress up in their fathers clothes.
