'Water For Elephants' Sex Scene: Robert Pattinson Says He Cried (VIDEO)

Robert Pattinson wants to make one thing clear: those weren't snot sniffles during his "Water For Elephants" sex scene. He was just truly emotional.

Extra caught up with Pattinson and his "Elephants" co-star Reese Witherspoon at the film's Sunday premiere, and Witherspoon did her best to disavow her earlier comments that her on-screen forbidden lover was suffering from a disgusting cold during their big love scene.

"I mean, sexy doesn't cover it. I don't know how we got this rating, that's all I'm gonna say," Witherspoon deadpanned. Pattinson took it a step further. "I was actually crying at how sexy Reese was in the scene."

"It's true, I was making a coverup for him," Witherspoon jokingly admitted.

"She thought it was embarrassing for me to be crying, but I think it's more embarrassing to be sniffing. I'm totally okay with crying at her beauty."

Speaking to In Touch Magazine, Witherspoon originally said, "Rob possibly had the most hideous horrible cold of any co-star I've ever had to do a love scene with ever in my entire life. He was literally snorting and snotting through every second of it - and it was not appealing. I'm talking green, infectious, disgusting - I'm not kidding!"

In the unlikely event that the crying excuse is true, it wouldn't actually be a surprise coming from Pattinson; after all, he plays a perpetually sexually frustrated virgin vampire in "The Twilight Saga." Then again, he looked perfectly happy kissing his "Twilight" co-star Kristen Stewart at the premiere, so we just may never know.

I really loved this book and it is really hard to see either of them in these roles, especially her. She is 35 years old and the character she plays was in her early twenties both streetwise but still a bit innocent. This role should have gone to a younger actress, I just can't see a mature actress portraying the things that this character does in the novel.

But I will go see it anyway because it was a magical little film.

He was crying at her beauty? ...Cmon...I can be as romantic as anyone else but seriously this guy needs to get back in touch with his man side. I bet he takes bubble baths, and cries after sex and binges on chocolate.

He should just say that he had a cold and like any man performed his duty to the best of abilities.

This movie was really miscast. Pattinson should have been nowhere near this film. I wonder if the studio made the director cast him inorder to bring in more audience to the movie. I said earlier that i thought that this movie and book do not appeal to the younger high school set.

From what Reese said earlier, she cried too but for totally different reasons..he is a grown man not a 6 year old making mud pies and he doesn't keep his nails clean and wash his hair...but then again Mathew McC doesn't use deodorant which drives his female costars wanted to use a close pin on their noses, (according to Kate Hudson)Yuk!

I shower in the morning and bathe at night, I on workout days I also shower after the gym...dirty nails & hair no deodorant yuk!
