Divorce Regrets: Readers Weigh In

What are your divorce regrets? The things you would change or do differently if you had a second chance?

Kevin Hansen's new book "Secret Regrets" inspired us to put the question to the twitterverse (hashtag #divorceregrets). The response was varied, ranging from "getting married" to "not leaving soon enough," with others in between.

I regret not leaving much sooner, and I regret leaving at all.

If I left before I had 3 kids, I would have a decent retirement by now, without his theft.

If I hadn't left at all 17 years later, my teen wouldn't have started drinking from the pain, and I wouldn't have developed a severe disability from the physical stress of holding down a job with long hours, while taking care of 3 kids and a house.

I regret not leaving earlier, it is very difficult starting over at 45. I should never have stopped working either. It has left me in a very vulnerable postion.

I regret walking away from my (ex)husband,after 14 years. Walked away from my family /friends and my home...just so I could pursue "greener pastures". Guess what....it wasn't greener! It was lies, drugs and broken promises!! It has been 10 years, and I still regret leaving
