Missing Woman's Body Found In Maryland

The body of Phylicia Barnes has been found in the Susquehanna River, the local Fox affiliate in Baltimore reported this afternoon.

Barnes, a 16-year-old from North Carolina, had been missing since December, per AOL News. She was last seen around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 28 when she left the apartment of her half sister, Deena Barnes. She had said she was going shopping.

According to a statement released by police, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has confirmed that a body found yesterday in the Susquehanna River at the Conowingo Dam is Barnes, who has been missing from Baltimore City since Dec. 28.

The Facebook group Pray for Phylicia Barnes had grown to more than 23,000 members since her disappearance. Several tributes are being posted there today.

Police had said they had no leads in late January, per the Washington Post.

Barnes' body was one of two found yesterday in Port Deposit, Maryland, police confirmed. The other body was a man.
