WASHINGTON — The Washington Post Co. is launching a news aggregation website called Trove that allows users to create their own news sites based on Facebook interests and customized subjects.

Vijay Ravindran, chief digital officer of the Post Co., says the free website aims to be a first stop for news and a step toward understanding what the future of news looks like online. It launches Wednesday.

Trove will be available on desktop computers, as well as Android and Blackberry devices. An iPhone version is also being developed.

The site pulls users' interests from Facebook. Users also can create special channels on subjects they want to follow. An editorial team selects daily news as "Editors' Picks" to feature on the site.

The Associated Press is among the sources of the site's content.

Oh, my. I wonder what Bill Keller will have to say about this, given his diatribe against HP.

Keller is right. The Huffington Post is all about and only about SEO, aggregation, and using other people's original work.

We certainly don't have enough of those! If there's one thing the web definitely does not have enough of, it is aggregation sites!

yeah, but if enough people aggregate parasitic sites like this will have more competition and not be able to profit off the work of everyone else so much
