TIME 100 Most Influential People: See Which World Figures Made The 2011 List

First Posted: 04/22/11 11:04 AM ET   Updated: 06/22/11 06:12 AM ET

The annual TIME 100 might be the only list that includes politicians and British royalty alongside human rights advocates and one of the most-feared terrorists on the planet.

As TIME puts it, "They are artists and activists, reformers and researchers, heads of state and captains of industry...their ideas spark dialogue and dissent and sometimes even revolution."

From U.S. President Barack Obama to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, this year's list includes some familiar global faces. But there are some fascinating newcomers, too -- including Internet activist Wael Ghonim, credited with energizing the anti-government protests in Egypt which ousted former President Hosni Mubarak, along with Katsunobu Sakurai, mayor of Minami Soma, a city among the hardest hit by Japan's devastating earthquake and tsunami.

See the full 2011 TIME 100 list here.

The dumbing down of America is finally complete. When Michelle Obama and hip hop singer Beyonce can be named two of the "most powerful women in the world," the inmates have taken over the asylum.

Michelle Obama's claim to fame is being married to the most incompetent, politically-correct-elected, US President. She is also known for starting a cabbage patch in the backyard of the White House.

She and her husband were given access to the best universities in the country because "affirmative action" and "political correctness" were required policies on American campuses at that time.

If one reads Michelle Obama's graduating thesis, one realizes a superior education was wasted on a mediocrity.

Your taste in music reflects your intelligence according to a study that compared exam results and musical tastes.

Beyonce fans are among the most stupid when comparing students' scores in SAT exams with their favourite music acts and genres by analysing data on social networking sites.

Mrs. Obama says, “Beyoncé is one of my favourite performers on the planet." Another example of a wasted education.

Hip hop singer, Beyonce's claim to fame is buying a $45,000 Louis Vuitton handbag and not knowing that the pyramids are in Egypt.

America has really reached the bottom when Michelle Obama and Beyonce are considered two of "the most powerful women in the world."

David Cameron is the real Lord Snooty http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/columnists/charlesmoore/6727994/Why-Lord-Snooty-is-the-ideal-role-model-for-David-Cameron.html. The royal couple have no influence. They are just part of so called celebrity culture.

timorous inc is a joke as much as a picture with obama in it as most influential. There was a time when American presidents were influential, but obama has ended that.

Since all collected data and research indicate that you are in error, we will just assume that you did not intend for that to be a "factual" statement.

Hilarious!  If TIME is REALLY interested in determining the 100 most influential people in the world, they need to follow the money.  Now, that list would be informative.

How are William and Kate influential? They are in the news because every generation the Brits have to have a fairy tale wedding.
12:05 PM on 04/24/2011
Or Amy Poehler? This list seems to be made up of people admired by other people and not really a list with any real merit. As usual, the list is biased towards the country it was produced in. I'm sure being the Governor of New Jersey makes you important in America but I'm also sure there are many more people who have had a profound impact on the World than he has.

Most of these people just work for the globalists.

The only one who has made a serious positive contribution is Julian Assange.

A great point. The list is biased to the money power and the never ending mideast conflict (btw where is trichet's friend bernanke?)
