Tom Cruise To Play Cheating Politician In Dan Fogelman Film

Tom Cruise Attached To Affair Scandal Film

Tom Cruise is partnering with a longtime Disney screenwriter for a film ain't too family friendly.

The "Mission: Impossible" star is attached to a script from "Cars" and "Tangled" writer Dan Fogelman about a politician who has an affair and heads back home to re-collect his spiraling out of control life. The project was a hot commodity, and was just snatched up by Warner Bros. on Thursday.

It's a dramatic turn for Fogelman, who has begun to incorporate some less family-friendly films into his portfolio. He wrote the upcoming Steve Carell/Ryan Gosling comedy, "Crazy, Stupid, Love."; his last live action film was 2007's Christmas hit, "Fred Claus." He's back in the family zone for "Cars 2," which is currently in production, but he's also the writer behind the upcoming raunchy comedy, "My Mother's Curse," starring Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand.

Cruise will next be seen in "Mission: Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol," and will play lead in the star-studded Broadway adaptation "Rock of Ages."
