Nook Upgrade

mocoNews:

That’s right, I said e-readers. True, it looks like a tablet, runs like a tablet, and delivers a lot of the value tablets deliver, but the Nook Color’s 1.2 upgrade (which is actually a step up to Android 2.2, don’t let the numbers confuse you too much) is really a foreshadowing of the future of e-readers, not the future of tablets.

Why post a picture of an eInk nook when the article is about nookColor?

well it wouldn't be a proper HuffPo article without some sort of non sequitur.

I think e-publishing is a great decision for those that don't want to use a lot of paper.

I am very skeptical of color, non-e-ink ereaders right now. The glare is just too much.

Will it play enhanced ebooks with imbedded videos? I'm only going to have an ereader that can show pictures and videos. Can anybody help me with the first question, please?

I'm sure if you go to the MobileRead forum for nookColor, you will find your answer:

I have the eInk version, so I don't know.

And something else: When is J.K. Rowling going to give in on the fact that Harry Potter anything is the most searched ebook title out there. She has said that ebooks can be delivered too easily for free! Duh, does she not realize that there are bootlegged copies of each book for free online the very day the book comes out for more than the past decade? Some ambition souls out there. Alllll those years she has been losing money, now more than ever.

I would never kype an ebook and most people I know also pay authors for their work. I might strip the DRM so I can read some secure formats on my readers - but I do own 4 of those due to the differences.

I love my Nook but I'm going for the tablet since I just lost 2 Dell laptops in 2 years. I only bought one and Square Trade warranty replaced it - and this new one will make twice they've had to cough up.

I really hated the design on the first Kindle and haven't replaced that one.

The 3G Wi-Fi Kindle is just perfection! It's the best buy I've made in over a year and it can't be improved on! Granted, the first Kindle wasn't that great but, man oh man, have they improved and perfected that thing since then!

Dang it! Don't DO that! Tell me it's not worth the money or something.

Due to the secure DRM I have well over 1,000 ebooks and have to have 4 ereaders on which to read them. Thankfully, though, future ebooks seem to be headed for EPUB which I can read on all 4.

Then I got my iPhone, on which I can read every format mentioned, thus the iPad - one device. I'd so love to have just the one......
