Wes Welker: 'Let's Do A Lockout Every Year'

'Let's Do A Lockout Every Year'

There appears to be one player in the National Football League who doesn't mind being locked out.

New England Patriots receiver Wes Welker held a free football camp in Oklahoma City over the weekend and talked about how he is enjoying working on his own schedule.

"I don't have to talk to anybody; I don't have to see anybody. You see some of the same faces all the time. It's kind of nice not to have to look at them anymore and see them. I'm kind of enjoying it," he said. "I like being able to train on my own and be able to do some of my things. It's good to be with the team, but it's kind of nice."

Welker went on to jokingly say, "Let's do a lockout every year."

The NFL and NFLPA started their court-ordered mediation last week and there reportedly has not been any progress toward getting a new deal done.

However, the league still released the 2011 regular season schedule on Tuesday.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the NFL could still manage to have a full 16-game schedule even if the first three weeks of the season were canceled.
