An ideal 3-4 Outsider Linebacker trying to play in 4-3 defense as an Outside Linebacker? Miller might fail like Joey Porter with the Dolphins when they ran a 4-3 under Cam Cameron. There's a big difference between playing a 4-3 and 3-4 as a Outside Linebacker such as outside linebackers in a 4-3 defense can get away with being a little undersized because their primary responsibility is stopping the run and dropping into coverage. And 3-4 outside linebackers are primarily pass rushers, so they must be big enough to take on the offensive tackle

I think we can all agree that the Vikings should have traded down from 12 if they really thought Ponder was their guy.

Shut your mouth! If they had done that then my Lions would not have gotten Fairley. So you can just go into a corner and stay there.

Blaine Gabbert, Jake Locker AND Christian Ponder...

And the 49ers don't take any of them. I can just hear it now, "Starter of the 2016 Pro Bowl ... Blaine Gabbert...."

The 49ers either better take Andy Dalton or trade for Kevin Kolb or I will be quite put out.

As a Washington resident and Husky fan I have had the pleasure of watching Jake Locker up close. He is the kind of kid every parent wishes for. His character is beyond reproach. He is a great leader and a true warrior. His upside is tremendous. I think the Titan fans will be pleased.

agreed. i'm not sure if the pick is as shocking as analysts are making it out to be. he's perfect for the titans' culture. he wouldn't have been there in the second round so they had to grab him in the first.

Love the draft. Great night last night.

Couldn't believe they actually played the Lee Greenwood song with the military folks on the stage.

How cheesy and cliche.

You mean the Wounded Warriors moment? Eh, I was just happy to see the NFL taking a minute to acknowledge people who truly sacrifice for the nation.

Some were wounded warriors...yes. And they do it every year and I'm fine with it.

I'll repeat...the Lee Greenwood song is cheesy and I think demeans the moment.

You got it now? You with me? You may not agree but do you understand the words I typed?

I was expecting the Chiefs to take Carimi, but, we ended up getting a WR, which wasn't too bad of a move, but, we need a big guy on the OL more.

Cardinals now have the best secondary in football. Peterson, DRC, Rhodes and Wilson. Filthy.

I'll take the Packers. 67.2 Allowed passer rating (1st), 24 INTs (2nd) and 8 in the playoffs.

The Lions D-Line just became the best in the league.  Hope the governor doesn't shut them down and appoint Millen as the emergency manager.

I agree with you but I would also throw the Saints and Cards into the mix for best picks. Saints got Ingram late in the first to compliment the passing game of brees and the cardinals got the best overall player at #5 and now have the best secondary in football in an era where the run game is becoming more and more obsolete.

also, the giants picking Amukamara was pretty solid. That kid was a steal at #19

Best pick of the night. At the end of the college season last year Fairley was number one on most boards. Teams over think all of this character stuff. He'll be fine in Detroit. Suh and Vandenbosh won't allow foolishness. Your avatar is absurd and hillarious.

Four picks in the first round, Roll Tide.

Also, with Suh and Fairley, Detroit is going to put the fear into some QB's this season if Fairley can do a lot of growing up between now and September.
12:30 PM on 04/29/2011
suh & vandenbosch will make sure fairley stays in line. sounds kinda weird to say, but detroit may have been the best place for him to go.

agreed. this situation is perfect for him. he won't be coming to a team where they are going to rely solely on him for a pass rush. He's now a part of the scariest D-line in the NFL. any character issues will be left at the door if Suh and KVB have any say in the matter.

I hope you're right. It burns me to admit this, but he's a phenomenal player. He just hasn't impressed me much as a person. If he can get that sorted out, he's got a bright future.
