Erin Burnett Jumping From CNBC To CNN: Report

Erin Burnett

CNBC's Erin Burnett is set to jump to CNN, the New York Times reported Wednesday night.

The paper said that Burnett, who has been at CNBC since 2005 is due to sign a long-term contract with the cable news channel. This would put an end to her career at NBC. She is considered one of the top stars at CNBC, and has even been talked about as a potential host for the "Today" show. However, a source told the Hollywood Reporter that NBC executives were not convinced of her suitability for a broader general news show, which could be a motive for her departure.

It is not clear what she will do at CNN. The network, still looking to boost its ratings, has been rumored to be thinking about revamping its 7 PM hour, currently helmed by John King. Burnett could also take the afternoon slot formerly occupied by Rick Sanchez.

CNN better treat Erin right, and I hope she has a tough skin. CNN and Headline News have been ruined in recent years. Their new anchors can't hold a candle to the older ones. Rick Sanchez is a murderer from Pembroke Pines, FL -- Get rid of him quick! I used to live around the block from him. I know! Brooke and Don and Suzanne all stink. For heaven sake don't get rid of JOHN KING! He's one of the only normal ones on the network! What is wrong with you? Eliott Spitzer should go!

Erin should consider waste collection, instead of waste distribution.

It is just another sign that CNN is not what it used to be.

She's great as long as you don't invest based on her reporting.

I've been watching her daily for quite awhile now and have never heard her recommend any particular stock. Cramer is quite the opposite story however.

She's an anchor not a financial investment specialist, but I'll bet with the people she interviews she makes good investments from her personal portfolio.

Erin "green shoots" Burnett. You're correct, she never recommended stocks. It would have taken away from her time as "head cheerleader for the financial markets and the corrupt ponzi scheme."

She was a buddy of Trump, maybe out of corporate necessity. Bet she won't miss THAT.

If Trump offered her a job, she would go in a second. Remember what she said "He butters my bread".

With Erin leaving, and the money honey getting long in the tooth(I bet she doesn't get free plane rides anymore) does that mean CNBC is just Kramer, a bunch of balding frat guys and Becky man stealer?

fox business channel doubles cnbc's ratings with half the affilliates, she saw the writing on the wall. cnbc's a loser!
07:14 AM on 04/30/2011
This is a lie, Fox Business is not even listed on the rating chart. You can see that on the April ratings information just released at the Huffington Post. Check it out! Why come on here lying about Fox Business. I think Bloomberg does better than them.

b b b but, Fox tells everyone all of their shows are number one. They wouldn't lie about the ratings, would they?
09:23 AM on 04/30/2011
Fox Business is a drag on earnings at Newscorp. Not the money loser that the NY Post is but its up there.
07:30 AM on 04/30/2011
So untrue, look at the rating just released this week on cable news. Fox Business is not
even listed!
