Good for Ms. Lee!

It's good to see a person who decided long ago not to go along with the American hype machine.

Although I don't mind a little hype now and then myself, Harper Lee is proof that you don't have to be a pawn to the self-serving machinations of the media.

It seems that they want to drop her name just to get a bump in profit.

I have heard for years that she didn't write "To Kill a Mocking Bird" I heard her childhood friend, Truman Capote wrote it for her. I've lived in Alabama most of my life and have family and friends that have the same social circles.

Truman Capote (the model for Dill Harris) addressed these rumor by pointing out the obvious: "Do you honestly think I wouldn't take credit for that book if I could?"

Tell it rambot (and Truman)!

It's one thing to hear stupid, ignorant and envious rumors. It's another thing to spread them.

She did not cooperate with Charles Shields' biography of her, published in 2006, so why would she start now?

Ms. Lee looks exactly how I would expect Scout to look at that age.

I very much wish she had published more work. To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my favorite books.

It feels like I remember turning every page of that book even though I first read it so long ago. It turned me into a reader and I hadn't been prior to it.
