Jan Brewer Signs Bill Making Colt State Gun

Jan Brewer

04/28/11 08:32 PM ET   AP

PHOENIX -- Arizona's governor has signed a bill designating the Colt Single-Action Army revolver as the state's first official firearm.

Gov. Jan Brewer signed the bill without comment on Thursday. Legislative supporters argued that the designation was appropriate because the revolver was widely used during Arizona's territorial days.

Opponents say it was inappropriate to give the official designation to an out-of-state company's commercial product. Colt is based in Connecticut.

Democratic Rep. Albert Hale also says the gun was an instrument of destruction that was used against Native Americans.

cool , i wish i could move to Arizona, Here in Calif if you shoot a burglar in self defense or protection of your home the police charge YOU.. and then take all your weapons ! in the past year if we hadnt had a couple of them myself and other members of our family would have been subjected to home invasions but luckily we were armed and were able to get them arrested yet each time the police harassed us about our legally obtained and registered guns and treated us like we were the criminals yet we probably saved our own lives .

This "woman" has done nothing for women. She is not representational of the female gender. She is not caring, not nurturing, not rational and she is selfish. Here this c r 0 n e is, older than me and I'm 60 tears old, and she is doing NOTHING for women.
In 2010, men were hired at a rate of 9 to 10 for the new jobs. This! in a century where women are now heads of households at an unprecedented number.
In 2011 one of the largest corporations in the country are fighting a class action suit in the SCOTUS brought by women from coast to coast that have evidence that the management of that company were instructed by the corporate offices to give preferential treatment to men. GENDER BASED salaries, hours and positions. The company is fighting the suit by saying it does not belong as a class action suit. This is exactly the sort of suit that class action suits were created for. Many plaintiffs with the common complaint against one defendant. And the suit will be decided by a gender biased majority Supreme Court with one who was alledged to have sexually harrassed a former co-worker.
So we have six-gun-Jan twirling her pistols and grandstanding. She disgusts me.

I propose that the State of Texas make the Super Soaker its state gun.
10:26 AM on 05/07/2011
I am a lifelong Texan, and I have owned a firearm since I was 12 years of age. I would nominate these firearms for our state: Winchester Model 94 30-30, Remington 12 guage pump shotgun, or the Smith and Wesson .44 magnum. Oh, by the way, the vast percentage of Texans are law abiding citizens. Texas farmers and ranchers who live along the Rio Grande River need such firearms to protect themselves and their property from "undocumented workers" i.e. illegals. Janet "Mary Poppins" Napolitano keeps telling us "that border is more secure than ever." She needs to ride with the Border Patrol for about 2 weeks. Her boss (you know who) has been invited to go to the border and see firsthand just how insecure it is. He has politely "declined" those invitations. Is he afraid of of what he might learn? Hmmmmm

I should have known. You can't make a joke about guns with gun enthusiasts. The response, is never, "I'm a loyal, honest American who believes that guns a a fundamental right under the Second Amendment of the Bill of Right, but thanks for the good one joke." It is always a harangue about the many shortcomings of the President and his advisers. In any event, although I don't live in Texas, I vote.for Smith & Wesson. It is soooooo iconic.

"Opponents say it was inappropriate to give the official designation to an out-of-state company's commercial product."

Also, why do you need a state gun?

Rumor has it that Saul Alinsky through the Pretender, has had great success in running our economy, education and government into the ground for us, us being the common people who are unable to understand. (ie..the pretender sues Arizona for doing the FEDS job of protecting our sovereign borders, the list goes on..)

Was curious of other States have a designated State Gun and found this article that approaches the story from an interesting angle:

Is there any penalty for abusing the Ringtail (state animal) or Cactus Wren (state bird).? If there is ,would it apply to the Colt single action Army revolver?

Will Arizona also be the first to designate a "state mortuary" for the victims of this "state gun"?
