'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn' Sex And Birth Scenes Graphic, Kristen Stewart Says

With a fan base dominated by teenagers, the final chapter of "The Twilight Saga" may elicit a lot of gasps and screams from the audience. And it'll have nothing to do with blood sucking or werewolf violence.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, "Breaking Dawn" director Bill Condon said that he isn't whitewashing the graphic sex and birth scenes in the big screen adaptation of the epic novel.

"We shot everything -- whether it's the lovemaking or the childbirth -- as potent and powerful as it can be," he told the magazine. "It will be interesting to see whether there will be people who think it too disturbing for this universe."

Count Kristen Stewart amongst the unshaken. She wanted to take it to an even further extreme.

"It's funny because when [the PG-13 issue] comes up, everybody thinks it's all about the sex," she says. "The birth is really effective, and I've heard it really hits you in the face. But what it could have been? It could have been shocking and grotesque, because that's how it was written in the book. I would have loved to have been puking up blood."

Little has been seen of the film, which is just wrapping up. Thus far, only a few images have been released, including two from their sex scene. Speaking about that scene earlier in the year, star Robert Pattinson likened it to a party game.

"It's always awkward in a way if you're doing it with anybody," Pattinson told MTV. "It really depends on how it's staged and stuff. It's like doing Twister."

"It will be interesting to see whether there will be people who think it too disturbing for this universe."

Absolutely. I can't wait to NOT see this.

"as potent and powerful as it can be," he told the magazine."

Now, what director is instead going to state he really didn't put much effort into it, and thinks it probably came out half-@ssed?

kristen stewart has an obviously limited imagination. she asks "what it could it be" except grotesque. think of all the great horror movies or thrillers where things were made even more terrifying by what WASN'T shown. rosemary's baby comes to mind...

I don't recall there being graphic sex in that book.
10:13 PM on 04/28/2011
Actually the lovemaking was detailed but the childbirth was pretty grim in the book.
12:21 PM on 04/29/2011
I remember the birth being detailed also, as they explain even the way her legs are positioned after her spine breaks... I can't believe I remember that...

The lovemaking wasn't detailed. The morning after was but it was still a teeny bopper book.

It wasn't, but the morning after scene implied very rough sex. And the birth scene is very explicit and pretty awsome, with spine breaking and bones getting crushed.

It's not only gratifying, but also heartwarming
that Kristen is willing to suffer so for her art.

I read the book. Without spoiling anything, let's just say that it's pretty rough, but not in a good way.

I know. Absurd. Mainly 8-10 -12 year old see these movies even though the books are classified in the "young adult" genre

stop the hype, y'all. don't post. avert your eyes, say nothing. Or admit it, you love the movies.
07:57 PM on 04/28/2011
I read the books on a friend's recommendation, saw the first movie, and most people will say the movies are better than the books. A rare thing! But considering the quality of the writing in the books, maybe not so far of a reach for this franchise. ;-)

The last book is really really horrible.

I read all the books and I would never say that the movies are better than the books. In fact me and my friends were very disappointed with the movies. Lets see if this one is any better...

Wow. Kristen Stewart and Bill Condon are just so, you know, like, _wise_. Their wisdom shines with the intensity of ten thousand eternally burning suns. Much too much "for this universe," you know.

Or, it could just be that the notion that objecting to "graphic" depictions of sex onscreen is not the same thing as being sexually repressed, or puritanical, or whatever.

People who object to graphic depictions of sex shouldn't go to movies that feature such depictions.

Would that every problem in life were so easily solved.

I agree completely, but we weren't talking about attending the film. I do not and would not advocate outside censorship; I just think there's something wrong with the fact that there's a market for it, and I think there is something seriously f-ed up with the way people in this culture think and act sexually.
