The Sidekick is one of the oldest brands in the cellphone space, with models stretching all the way back to 2002. Practically ancient history, by tech standards.

Though a crippling data outage knocked users offline in November 2009 and T-Mobile eventually stopped building the previous generation's models, the Sidekick line was a big hit in the pre-smartphone days and offered a friendly alternative to the more business-minded (and expensive) BlackBerry. Last week, T-Mobile relaunched the line with the Samsung-designed Sidekick 4G. It device packs a 3.5-inch touchscreen, a slightly customized version of Android, and a new keyboard that's garnering praise across the Web.
