Chair Dancing Through The Decades: A Workout For Everyone And No One (VIDEO)

First Posted: 05/01/11 02:24 PM ET Updated: 07/01/11 06:12 AM ET

When we saw this on The Daily What, we realized that there was a reason we were put on this planet after all: to witness chair dancing in all its glory. We're not quite sure about the "through the decades" part, nevertheless, this video is an endless treasure trove of awful.

How is this even funny? Truly, is this posted in the comedy section as a cruel joke to poke fun at older folks, or people with special needs? I've regarded the Huffington Post as a decent site, and enjoyed many articles, but this posting calls into question the judgement of the whole editorial staff. In poor taste Huffington Post. You owe this company an apology, as well as their customers, and the general public!

I got my mom some chair exercise videos and the people demonstrating them were kinda weird but I tried every trick in the book to get my housebound mom to do some exercises like those. Fortunately for all of us she did just enough exercising to keep moving around on her own till about a month before she passed away.
Yeah, it's dopey looking but for someone with limited mobility or in recovery it's a really good thing to do. Also if you're like me and sit all day at work and come home and blather on the internet, you might want to incorporate some of this silliness into your day

I think that is a great idea! It does not matter how you get you exercise, as long you get it!

I cannot believe I found this in the comedy section! These videos are most often used by people who have a physical disability or are in a wheelchair and that is the type of exercise they can do and you think it's cool to make fun of it and make implications about it?

Since I only have half of my left foot and lost two toes on my right foot, I can't engage in aerobic activities becuse I have balance problems and end up in pain. Physical therapists have given me sets of flexibility and strengthening exercises that I do in bed (mostly leg and core) and in a chair (strengthening arms and legs using weights). Obviously the HuffPost employees who create and edit the comedy section just aren't very good at their jobs.

When I have been dancing in 6" heels, I will often take a break with some chair dancing.

This would be a good video for someone in a wheel chair.

Huffpo swing and a miss.

Thanks, Huff Po, for making fun of people like me who have problems with our legs and are disabled because of it.

I chair exercise cuz it's all I can do.

What kind of people are you?

Most people do not work with people who have health issues to the extent of needing to exercise in a chair, so they laugh at what they are afraid may happen to them. I agree though it's not funny and a little cruel.

I hope my family members with disabilities do not come across with stupid piece.

Nevertheless, that comment was pretty stupid. Guess people with mobility issues shouldn't have exercise videos.

I was going to make a snarky comment until I remember what my mother had to say, "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything." Exercise of anytype is definitely a good thing! You guys get your groove on!

I remember the chair exercises from sit and be fit. Now, that gave you a real workout. It is wonderful that exercises can be done by people with all sorts of limitations. Everyone looked happy to be exercising and it was nice to watch people of all ages and diversity getting together for healthy reasons.
