John Cena Announces Osama Bin Laden's Death To WWE Fans (VIDEO)

First Posted: 05/02/11 11:01 AM ET Updated: 07/02/11 06:12 AM ET

After John Cena won the WWE Championship in a three-man cage match during Extreme Rules on Pay Per View, the wrestling star heard the news of President Obama's announcement that Osama bin Laden is dead. Cena put down his championship belt and grabbed a microphone to speak to the crowd.

"I walk out here every night with hustle, loyalty and respect on my sleeve," Cena said. "That is a credo I've adopted from the men and women who defend the freedom of this country. The President has just announced that we have caught and compromised to a permanent end Osama bin Laden."

Just like the fans at the Phillies-Mets game on Sunday night, the crowd erupted in cheers and chants of "U.S.A! U.S.A! U.S.A!"

Cena said he feels "damn proud to be an American" and walked out to "The Stars and Stripes Forever" playing over the speakers.

Caught and compromised Binden? Come on, dummy it down for this crowd

I'm pretty sure the crowd understood what he meant since they went crazy....

Can someone please tell me why everytime their is an article about pro wrestling an "internet fight" always breaks out? Are we that immature? Pro Wrestling has pre-determined outcomes, we all know. It isn't a legitamate sport, we all know. This article was written for one purpose, the celebration of justice for all the people that died on 9/11. You want to know why "rednecks" (which is the dumbest stereotype I have ever heard as pro wrestling is also very popular in other countries like Canada, England, and Japan) were going crazy when we heard this news? Because we care and love our country. What in the world is wrong with that?

Wrestling has a big following in the Northeast as it does here in the south...y'all : ). And John Cena with all the all the kitsch that goes along with a WWE event was all good, in contrast to 9/11. Thanks John, may you have good years ahead and keep up your good charity work.

What in the world is wrong with that? Absolutely nothing. Thank you.

Only way this angle can go from here is for a Bin Laden "face turn". Wait. What's real again?
12:37 PM on 05/03/2011
What you *don't* see is Bin Laden sneaking up backstage to hit him with a steel chair. Oh my.

WWE fans and actors reflect admirably the intelligence, wisdom and political sophistication of a majority of Americans.
10:13 AM on 05/03/2011
Honestly, are John Cena or the WWE fans any less intelligent than members of the general public who reacted in the exact same fashion? I find it fitting that a WWE performer announced Bin Laden's death, since most Americans see our political world as a match between a clear "good guy" (democrats here, repubs on talk radio) and a clear "bad guy" (repubs here, democrats on talk radio).

At least WWE know that the good guy/bad guy thing is an act for show. We "sophisticated" folks, well, I'm not so sure.

What exactly are you doing on this thread, Mr. Sophisticate?

And AOL/HPo are so tight with their deep pockets that they have to attempt to poach other people's property.

All you have to do is view the video on a website who actually forked out the money instead of attempting to steal somebody else's work.

As soon as I heard the news of Bin Laden's demise, I said to my friend, "The rednecks will be celebrating tonight." I was right!
07:30 AM on 05/03/2011
so all the people in front of the WH, Ground Zero, Times Square were rednecks?
10:15 AM on 05/03/2011
They aren't any more intelligent than rednecks. If you behave as they do, what makes you so much better? That you don't have an accent?

It really is amazing. In that video you can hear the expressions of several people. Priceless. I played it several times, I haven't watch that much wrestling since middle school.
