New Osama Bin Laden Tape Expected To Surface Soon

Osama bin Laden may be dead, but U.S. officials expect at least one new bin Laden tape to surface soon, according to multiple reports.

According to The New York Daily News, bin Laden may have ordered the tape to be released in the event of his death.

The tape is said to be a recording created not long before his death, though authorities say there is no indication he knew the United States was closing in on him. It's not clear whether it's audio or video.

Media outlets will have a tough decision on their hands when the tape does surface. Airing it could potentially boost his legacy as a martyr and incite new violence.

The Associated Press reports about the tape:

A new recording from bin Laden would provide a final word from the beyond grave for a terrorist who taunted the U.S. with recorded propaganda for years. It could also provide fodder to those who insist he is still alive.

A U.S. official told the AP the tape is "already working its way through al-Qaida's media pipeline."

I hope very much that any tapes made by Bin Ladin before his death, will not be shown to the public. They would only serve to heighten any thoughts of vengence by his Al Qaida followers. Any threats he made would not be relevent now. It is not necessary to play his tape and give solace and new resolve to his supporters.

I beg to differ. As an historian, the full truth may not always be known at first, but historical methodology and historians in general are always looking for new facts to fine tune an event. If you can't believe what historians are writing then you have failed to grasp one of the fundimental conscipts of the professional historian. By the way, people make mistakes, but are usually corrected, and autobigraphies rarely constitute good history.

Of course there will be. It's all about inciting the violence and spreading the propaganda. It makes all the sense in the world they would do so. And, besides, anything can be photoshopped and electronically edited to make it appear he is still alive. So, there is terrorist value in that.

The real concern here will be all those crazies that actually listen to and then believe whatever is to be shown or heard.

The man is gone. No need to pay any more attention to him. But, many of us will. TV and News outlets will exploit it. Conspiracy theorists and war-mongers will exploit it. Terrorists will exploit it. And idiots will fall for it all.

Well if there IS a tape, I hope he names, names and lets us KNOW whether he was in on this alone or who's in it with him.; I STILL believe there's more to 9/11 than meets the eye.
