Osama Bin Laden's Compound Gets Bad Reviews On Google Maps

Abbottabad, Pakistan is known for its pleasant weather and picturesque location. But despite its tourist credentials, the scenic village where Osama bin Laden had sought refuge up until his death is getting its share of bad reviews.

Following President Obama's Sunday night announcement that American forces had killed the man behind the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Google Maps users -- presumably figuring that the real estate is now on the market -- hit the Web to assess the bin Laden compound.

"Free HBO, but 'death to America!' chants were getting old. Better options nearby," wrote reviewer Steve Jenkins, who gave the hideout a one-star rating using Google's reviews feature, a function normally reserved for assessing stores, restaurants and hotels.

According to the Atlantic, the site was at one point listed as an "amusement park," so the amenities really shouldn't be sub-par.

"Disappointed in the service," another review noted. "The place reeked of burning garbage."

"Located in cozy, quiet neighborhood," read a five-star review. "Interrupted only occasionally by machine gun fire. Lacking in amenities, but an up and coming area. Handyman special. One satellite phone available with smoking bullet hole for [communication] back home. CIA helicopters offering complimentary air lift service for corpses. Great property to get away from it all. Must See!"

Another five-star reviewer could be preparing an opening bid for the million-dollar complex.

"I heard that this place is now available (prior residents left suddenly and unexpectedly)."

Yep. Very doubtful. I'm sure it's faked. After all, what could restore America's credibility around the world than faking the death of bin Laden, when a week later bin Laden could release yet another video saying they missed?

Our government does a lot of bone headed things, but it's not that common that they pull a hoax that can be dis proven so quickly.

What idiot designed this place with a yard big enough to land a helicopter and a flat roof for a rope drop? Have they never seen any Hollywood movies? Don't they know SEAL teams love to chopper in? They had high walls to keep locals out and prying local eyes out. But the basic design was horrible to prevent air assault. It was also high and open, easy for a cruise missile or bomb to flatten. An urban cave is called a bunker, which they failed to build. Oh well they paid the price for being stupid.

Why do mid easterners whether in Pakistan, Iran or Beverly Hills think rectangular concrete slabs are an attractive type of architecture ? Osama had money but no taste . Interestingly (if that's a word) mid easterners in Beverly Hills have extensive security features on their houses and often don't even have windows that open on the first floor .They also have far more in the way of gates and other security features than other people in Beverly Hills . Who are they hiding from ? Why are they so secretive about how they made their money ?

Man, You don't get a lot for a million dollars in Afganistan-seems worse then the real estate in New Jersey. I could have gotten him something better. Still, it reminds me a bit of the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose California.

I find it interesting that a man who opposed a Western-lifestyle was living in a retirement community, in a huge compound costing millions, with American-lifestyle amenities and near a major city. We've been told he so believed in his anti-American lifestyle principals, that he lived with very few comforts, in a cave, in the mountain tribal regions of Afghanistan-Pakistan border.
