'The Host': Stephenie Meyer Book Nabs Saoirse Ronan For Film

Will This Be The New 'Twilight'?

A rising indie star before taking the lead role in a Stephenie Meyer-penned teen thriller novel book-to-film, Kristen Stewart's career and star exploded with the rocket powered success of "The Twilight Saga." As that series winds down, it's time for another teen star to get the Meyer-fueled boost.

Somebody get Saoirse Ronan on the phone with Stewart. She'll need some pointers.

Ronan, already a success at 16-years old with films "Atonement," "The Lovely Bones," and "Hanna," has been cast in "The Host," Meyer's next big screen adaptation. About an alien parasite species called Souls that invade human bodies, Ronan will play both Melanie, a freedom fighting teenager, and Wanderer, the parasite working to fully take over her body.

While the book series isn't as popular as "Twilight," it's still a teen favorite, and Ronan could be a perfect choice to star. She knows drama, having starred in "Atonement"; can kick butt, which she did in "Hannah"; and can handle the pressure of translating a hit book to the big screen, as she did with "The Lovely Bones."

No other cast members have been announced, though with Ronan, the film's star, in place, it shouldn't be long before there's movement on the film.
