Black Hawk: Experts Say Navy SEALs Used Stealth Helicopter In Bin Laden Mission

As photographs of the wreckage left behind at Osama bin Laden's million-dollar Abbottabad compound continue to surface, aviation experts are speculating that the U.S. military deployed a custom stealth version of the famous Black Hawk helicopter in its operation to execute the terrorist leader.

According to a retired special operations aviator speaking with the Army Times, Navy SEALs utilized a "radar-evading variant of the special operations MH-60 Black Hawk" to complete the mission.

The top-secret helicopter model was supposedly modified to minimize detection and reduce rotor noise.

"Images of the wreckage of a helicopter that reportedly crashed during the operation, apparently due to an undisclosed technical malfunction, do not conform to any types that are known to be in service with the US military or in development," IHS Jane's reported.

Experts believe that special operations officers attempted to demolish the aircraft after it suffered damages during the mission, and although they were largely successful, explosives left the helicopter’s tail boom, tail rotor assembly and horizontal stabilizers intact.

"No wonder the team tried to destroy it," Aviation Week said, adding that although the aircraft used for the mission does appear to be classified, "stealth helicopter technology in itself is not new and was applied extensively to the RAH-66 Comanche."

The U.S. military introduced the classic Black Hawk in 1979.

From what I have always understood, by the time the general public is made aware of any new stealthy technology it has either already been in use or has been in testing for at least 10 if not 20 years before we find out about it. There is a lot more savings to be found in the black budgets of the military than in medicare.

As for the time machine, the dems have had one since at least 2008 when it was used to go back in time and plant the birth announcements; or haven't you been paying attention. Gotta go, men in black at the door.

Pakistan is supposed to be our " friend and Ally" in the war on terror. We send billions of dollars every year to Pakistan. Why don't we DEMAND the return of the helicopter TODAY or NO MORE AID MONEY TO THEM. It is time for Pakistan to step up and be a ligitimate ally .

Pakistan has been urging the afghans to not cooperate with US occupation, and there have been Pakistani protests blocking NATO supplies into Afghanistan. They will likely come out with a dna test that prove that it was NOT OBL so that they can say the war is still on, he's still out there, and you're either with us or against us...Pakistan. Then if we go into a hot war, the Chinese and everybody else will get involved and WWIII is on.

Are you kidding me? Obama had everything to lose if this mission failed. He was the decision maker the whole time and made decisions the military disagreed with that turned out to be right. . For instance, the chinnock helicopters to escort the black hawks all the way instead of on the boarder, turned out to save the mission. The decision to go in with seals was his decision. I can't remember any other President as much involved in military opperations as Obama was on this mission. Give the guy credit. He thought it out, made the decisions and was right. I'm voting for Obama in 2012.

Obama didn't know what was going on, even the photos of him and Hillary sitting tensely in the Situation Room watching the events as they played out were staged. They were reportedly watching the Seals attack the compound, but DEFENSE SECRETARY GATES SAID there was a 25 minute blackout when the screen showed nothing all through the events unfolding in Pakistan. The only video transmission they viewed was the in air flight. This administration is nothing but a publicity seeking bunch of clowns.

lets just beat the Pakistans to it and pay off our national debt at the same time, send the Chinese a aircraft carrier full of our latest stealth helicopters complete with translated instructions with a big red ribbon on it!! Debt paid in full. What are you, blind? Those two tails have NOTHING in common except "stealth technology" The rotor on that one is INSIDE the tail, this one has a HUGE rotor on one side of the tail section, like a regular helicopter but with a weird disk thing on the opposite side. This one has a "wing" on the tail section, whereas the one you point to has the wing on the top of the end of the tail.
