Lawrence O'Donnell: 'Disgusting Is Way Too Nice A Word For Glenn Beck' (VIDEO)

First Posted: 05/05/11 09:28 AM ET Updated: 07/05/11 06:12 AM ET

Lawrence O'Donnell reignited his long-running feud with Glenn Beck on his Wednesday show, expressing outrage that Beck had called President Obama's trip to Ground Zero "slimy" and "disgusting" on his radio show. Beck said that the trip—Obama's first during his presidency—was just happening because Obama was trying to score more political points off of the killing of Osama Bin Laden.

O'Donnell noted that Beck had actually celebrated (though with tongue somewhat in cheek) Bin Laden's death on his Monday show with a marching band and confetti.

"So after saying the event was worthy of a marching band, Beck now says that the president of the United States going to the place that made Osama Bin Laden the most famous and dangerous terrorist in history is inappropriate," O'Donnell said in a silkily contemptuous voice. "In Beck's word, disgusting. Disgusting. As he's proven time and time again disgusting is way too nice a word for Glenn Beck."

Lighten up Larry. MSNBC's PM lineup is just five rich white guys complaining about Big Oil, Wall Street greed, and Bush's fault" world chaos. Each angry show leads into an even angrier show...Rachel's end of the day sanity check is the only bright spot in an otherwise depressing five hour time block. The Walking Dead is more joyful.

Come on Lawrence, loosen up and tell us how you really feel.

Stop trying to hold it back

Lawrence O'Donnell is wrong, wierd, crazy and scary; and yes, - "disgusting" !!
He is using the MSNBC TV spot provided to him, in this case by AOL as well, to demean a fellow commentator ( from Fox channel in this case) which is "hitting below the belt".
I do not see Glenn Beck stooping down to his level to "retaliate".
Perhaps that is MSNBC's policy to do so because I see Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann before her doing the same thing. It is the only TV channel on which the anchors (!) consistently badmouth the others.
I watch all of the news channels here in Michigan. MSNBC is by far the least professional and I give it a grade of "D Minus" because of them.

Apparently Michigan cable does not get Fox "News" at night, since O'Reilly and his cohorts regularly malign other anchors, news organizations, and public figures.

Hi g guy,

The Michigan cable does carry Fox News and O'Reilly.

I respect your opinion even though I disagree. One is free to express his or her opinions. That is why this country is so great.

All the best !

To bad Glenn Beck will never hear anything but his own rants. But I would guess that it is kind of hard to hear anything when you are stuck between the underside of a snake and the ground.

Sometimes when I have a bad day...I go home and watch Glenn Beck's show and I laugh and laugh and laugh...

He's such a funny political comedi----wait, what? He's being serious?! ...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

I agree 100 % with Mr.O' Donnell!!! There are many words I could use that are far more accurate to describe Glenn Beck, however I do not want to be banned from this sight. I will just say that he is beneath contempt and move on.

Glenn Beck is a complete nut. Fox News prostitutes their integrity for ratings and ad dollars with no regard for the truth.

ALL of the news channels do their fair share of that. What happened to simply reporting the news?

Why, yes he does, Oreilly, Gingrich, trumpy the clown etc, next question

Well, you know what they say: "Great people talk about ideas. Average people talk about things. And small people talk about other people." It's abundantly clear where Lawrence O'Donnell falls on this scale.

I'm betting comments have to be moderated on this thread b/c people would express a desire for violence against this frightened little man Glenn Beck. Chickens come home to roost.
12:14 AM on 05/08/2011
What makes Glenn more disgusting is that he has loyal followers. If you see the commentary his flock has of their shepard, you can't help but feel an overwhelming sadness for them. This ticks me off more than anything else. Some of his followers are actually nice and decent people. They are only being manipulated by this con of a man. I shouldn't say that, it's an insult to our species.

Then why does beck always have a problem with telling it?
08:49 PM on 05/07/2011
Wow, an angry partisan member of the "newsmedia" playing to other angry partisans.  I thought I would never live to see the day....
09:49 PM on 05/07/2011
But like a horsefly to chit you were drawn to watch it and comment huh ?
10:37 PM on 05/07/2011
Your comment is non-sensical.  One has to view or read something before one can comment on it - positively or negatively.  It would be a nice trick to be able to rewind time and go back to the point in time that preceded observing something senseless; too bad things don't work that way.

There is no comparing these two. Beck is a different species of angry partisan. He is a fire and brimstone preacher of hate.

Fox "news" fired him. Let's think about that for a minute. Fox "news", the channel that goes out of it's way to be irrational, overreact, ignore facts, etc. actually fired GB.

The rest of the world knew he was crazy and a bad influence on others loooooong before Fox ever acknowleded it.
09:19 PM on 05/09/2011
I just saw him on Fox a short while ago today. Perhaps Fox did not "fire" him per se but cancelled his show instead.

You may have given Fox too much of your credit.

p.s. I watch Fox everyday, like it. I also watch and like CNBC, CNN , ESPN, HIST and, of course, The Big 10 Channel !

Go Blue !!
