'Songs For Japan' Charity Album Raises $5 Million For Disaster Relief

Following the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan in March, dozens of the biggest stars in popular music donated tracks for a benefit album to lend their star power to fundraising efforts for disaster relief.

In just over a month, the "Songs For Japan" album sales have raised $5 million for relief efforts, according to a press release.

"Songs For Japan" features songs from artists such as Madonna, Beyonce, Elton John, Justin Bieber, Eminem, Bob Dylan, Rihanna and many more.

The funds are being given to the Japanese Red Cross, which received a $2 million payment in April and an additional $3 million on May 2.

The two disc album features 38 tracks and is available for purchase on iTunes and hard copy. All in all, over 500,000 digital and physical copies have been sold thus far.
