I work in a job where my schedule changes and I can work schedules ranging betwen 8-5 and 11-8. I'm diabetic and my doctor can look at my file, look at my numbers and my weight and tell when I was on what schedule. I handle the 8 to 5 schedule better. I am a morning person. I am not satisfied eating dinner in the breakroom during a 15 minute break. I have never been able to adjust to that schedule very well and I suspect that the reason people who eat later at night gain weight might be due to the same issues. For me at least, it is harder to eat a healthy diet when I have a less traditional schedule. I try my best but I'm an early to be and early to rise person.

We must remember everyone is different and everyone's lifestyles are different. I am a believer in total caloric intake throughout the day is more important than when we eat. Tapering down calories which means taking more calories earlier in the day has worked for me. It gives me all day energy and I have the whole day to burn calories. At the end of the day I just need a small snack to keep me from going hungry and I don't need the traditional "big" dinner.

In order to lose weight you must have some will power. There are many diets out there that work. I used the hcg diet, but you can use most of these so called fad-diets and they will work if you stick to them. With a little work I was able to lose 30lbs and now try to help others get the same success. You can find out more and read my story on my site. Also find over 100 recipes for the hcg diet, other success stories and more. www.hcgplan.net

Personally, I've decided to go with the 90-day Body by Vi Challenge.
Great shakes, supplements, and you can get your next month's FREE! Just ask me how.
What sold me was the amazing testimonials I saw on this - it really, really works. Thousands of success stories, over 2 million pounds lost - and you automatically get your own website to track your progress and socialize with others to share stories.
I've struggled for years, eating better, walking more - but I'm fighting against the 8-12 hours a day I sit for my job.

51 people? How can they possible have done any matched pair analyses or accounted for all co-factors with such a small sample size?

I'm not saying they're wrong or right, but it's simply not possible to make a determination based on this study design and sample size. I know nothing more about this now than I did before I started.

Also, people seem to be thinking it means "don't eat after 8pm". But even the analysis they did doesn't say that. They note that their diets are worse. OK. What about the night owls who eat fruit and carrots after 8pm?

There is zero information from this.

Well your metabolism doesnt work quite the same when you eat late then go to sleep...makes obvious sense.

It is a ridiculously small sample, the question is how much people wait after the last meal to go to bed.. and it seems that actually the late sleepers had more than 5 hours while the early sleepers less..
