Google's New Search Results Pages: Is The Simplified Look Elegant Or Ugly? (PICTURES)

Google is apparently testing cleaner-looking results pages.

Overall, the new design looks less cluttered. Rows of text are spaced farther apart and text colors are more muted than previous versions.

Compared to the darker, tighter text of the old results pages, the change is pretty stark and will take some getting used to, if Google decides to roll out these changes to all users.

Have you noticed Google's new results pages? If you haven't, you can check out the difference in the screenshots (below). Do you think the change is ugly or an improvement?

I hate it. They should change it back to the old design.

Looks equivalent to me, I can barely see a difference.

Yet another change whose only purpose is to get more ad clicks. Top page ads are now twice as big, for popular queries pretty much all i see above the fold is ads.

It will also increase competition (and cheating) for top place since unless a site is top two they are now nowhere to be seen.

Oh, these are not nearly as bad as the severe virus called "The House of Bilderberg" which has infected Eric Schmidt!

i've just seen it now, i first thought it was my computer's screen resolution that changed...
TBH, this new look is horrible, and hope google will offer an alternative to switch back!

Too much white space. They should cut the paragraph and line spacing in half.

Hate this! The text is too light and small.

Is there a way to change it back or am I stuck with it now??

It's SO AWFUL. no barriers between search results like the underlined titles used to provide. It's too light, also, like the commenter below me said.

The font in this new style is TERRIBLE -
TOO LIGHT for my eyes.
