It is just a reflection of this generation, Rude and Crude. This generation probably never could have defeated Jim Crow.

Frankly, I love that LA Reid is harsh. What the heck about auditioning on a nationally televised show and you don't even know which song you'll be singing?!!! That's just a waste of everyone's time. I have more respect for a bad singer who is prepared and gives his/her all.

I like The Voice, but it is so over produced. When you have has-been folks like Frenchie in the group, its pretty much a set up. I love Frenchie and I'd love to see her do well, but everything is too controlled. Even the judges curtail their contestant choices based on the style of music that the contestants audition with. "Oh, this is a Christina person. Oh, Levin will take this one..."

"When was the last time you performed? Eighteen years ago?" Reid asked. "Whatever made you stop then, you should've stuck with that decision."

That was arguably harsher than Cowell's take: "It's very brave, and I don't mean this disrespectfully, but you're someone who should be singing at home."

I think they're equally harsh... Leave LA alone!!

LA's comment was funny to me.

I think that this show is the UK version of Showtime at the Apollo. It's supposed to be crazy. You're supposed to see real people with real talent getting their real shot. Not some crafted, prepackaged, rounded off teen-fest like American Idol. The joy in the show is finding a diamond in the rough who surprises the audience like a Susan Boyle and Edward Reid.

If these folks can't deal with some harsh criticism, then they shouldn't attempt to join the entertainment industry.

LA Reid was nice when I met him. Of course that was over a decade ago. Things change!

You're going to let one comment change your mind? Well, you don't really know him anyway. You only met him once in your life.

I am more likely to believe that he's actually a nice person from my experience with him. Especially since, in the situation it was in, most people would have at least had an attitude but he was very nice. Again, things DO change though and I was just saying that it is possible that he has changed since then. Not that I know it for a fact.

You do know that when a professional is asked to judge someone in a competition they often are harsh since it is criticism?

If someone cannot sing they shouldn't go to a signing competition and expect to escape unscathed by criticism.

You should take that up with the person who is_torturing you into watching the shows against your will. Try 911.

Finally, someone who is willing to give so-called good singers a dose of reality. Reid has earned the right to be critical of bad singers because he helped produce great singers such as Janet Jackson. Both L.A. Reid and Simon will make the show worth viewing.

And screw with your money. Just ask TLC & Toni Braxton. L.A. also could ruined record labels too. LaFace/Arista/Def-Jam. The only album he did with Janet was so under promoted thanks to Reid. L.A. Reid isn't the hit maker that you think he is.

Actually Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis produced the majority of Janet's hits. Emphasis on hits!
