Teen To Florida Cops: 'Yeah, I Smoke Weed, A Lot Of Weed'

While you most certainly should be honest when questioned by police, there is a fine line between answering their inquiries and implicating yourself beyond their suspicions, as one Florida teen recently discovered.

According to the Northwest Florida Daily News, sheriff's deputies were recently executing a search warrant at a residence in Fort Walton Beach, a city about 170 miles west of Tallahassee. During their search of the premises, a 19-year-old man who apparently didn't spot the row of patrol cars parked along the road drove up to the residence.

When a deputy with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office approached the teen's car, he reportedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Officers then detained the youth, prompting him to ask what their probable cause was. When informed about the odor of marijuana, the teen alleged replied: "Yeah, I smoke weed, a lot of weed," according to a copy of the arrest report obtained by the Daily News.

During a subsequent search of the teen's vehicle, deputies reportedly found several pieces of marijuana.

The teen was charged with a first-degree misdemeanor for possessing 20 grams or less of marijuana.
