Roswell Teen Allegedly Posted Girl's Nude Photo On Facebook When She Refused Sex

Authorities in New Mexico have arrested a high school freshman for allegedly posting nude pictures of his girlfriend on Facebook after she refused his sexual advances.

According to police, the unidentified 14-year-old suspect and the 15-year-old victim in the case are both students at Goddard High School in Roswell, a city known more for UFOs than teen sexting.

"The boyfriend kept asking the girlfriend to send him a nude photograph of herself. She denied it [but] finally after enough pestering she gave in and sent him one of herself," Erica O'Bryon, a spokeswoman for the Roswell Police Department, told AOL Weird News.

Photo in hand, the teen boy allegedly set the second part of his plan into motion: to extort what he wanted from his high school sweetheart.

"He told her if she did not have sex with him he was going to post the picture on the Internet," O'Bryon said. "She refused, so he did, in fact, post the picture on Facebook."

Rather than just post the photo where his friends could see it, O'Bryon says he also "created a whole new Facebook page" just for the nude photograph. When the alleged victim found out about the unscrupulous fan page, she informed her parents, who in turn contacted police.

Authorities arrested the teenager Tuesday afternoon, filing several charges against the youth, including harassment and intimidation.

According to O'Bryon, officials did not file any charges related to child pornography because they did not want to "victimize the victim again, because we would have to charge her with it as well," she said.

The teenage suspect is being held at the Chaves County Juvenile Detention Center, where he awaits his first court appearance.

"We want kids to know this is not something that we are taking lightly," O'Bryon said. "This is something that is going to be taken seriously."

The young man should know not to exploit his girl friend just because she would't give in to his desires. They need to lock him up and throw away the keys. Maybe he will learn a lesson for the future and learn to respect women.

Production of Child pornography is production of child pornography.  If it was a man who did it but did a stupid thing with consent and whatever else not "harm" or force he would not get a pass.  Why do some people get punished and others do not?

the "victim" created the the child porn.  So should the person who just finds or possesses the image be punished?  what incremental harm have they done if they had no part in the production?  If they only received a copy of the already produced offending image why should they be punished more than or equal to the person who created it.?

I think it's an easy fix, Allen:

1. most child pornograph­ers are exploiting some one. This girl was not. She was her own "model."

2. She's underage herself.

3. She had no criminal or commercial motive.

Legislation could easily be drafted to accommodate underage kids who photograph no one but themselves, and "publish" the photo to a lover without commercial or criminal intent.

Heh 10 years ago i was a Junior in high school....a boy took a Polaroid of his GF naked. She apparently cheated on him at one point and for revenge he taped these pictures in the cafeteria. The dude got suspended for 3 days and had to volunteer in the library for the rest of the year. The girl got a harsh lesson in trust and hopefully...built some character. The rest of us....well....we got to see some breast so it was a good day. Dude moved on to law school while chick moved on to some Biology degree from Florida state. Looks like they are both doing fine after this...no need for lawsuits...no need for criminal proceedings No need to ruin lives for a stupid teenage mistake. get over it people.

what part of his MOTIVE for wanting the picture to begin with was hard for you to understand? He wanted it to blackmail her into sleeping with him. The mentality of that boy at that age already shows what kind of person he is going to turn out to be. Would he have gotten his jolleys anyway as she lay their crying that he forced himself on her to keep a picture off the net? This little creep needs to learn that no means no!

The boy is wrong. But it's time to stop "pardoning" the person, male or female, that either takes or allows to be taken a picture of his or her naked body and trotting it around the globe. He insisted so she did? She's 15, he's 14, how much more cunning is one over the other? She can read. This kind of story has been out there before. There are no innocents in this.
