Chelsea Handler, it seems, is slowly taking over all of Hollywood.

Already the host of "Chelsea Lately" and "After Lately" on E!, and the just-announced star of horror-comedy "Mall," Handler is heading to network TV; her sitcom pilot for NBC has just been optioned to series for next year.

Based on her memoir, "Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea," Handler will executive produce and co-star as Sloane Hanson, fictionalized version of her older sister. Laura Prepon, best known as Donna from "That 70's Show," will play the role of Chelsea.

Yawn. More trite programming featuring a low talent comedian.

We'll have to see. I'm a big fan of the books, and the standup, and the show...but there's always a risk that it won't translate so well to a sitcom format. Like I said, we'll see.

I suspect Chelsea has been waiting forever for that movement.

Kathy Griffin is a million times funnier than this c 0w.

Somebody should write a movie for Kathy. She could be a regular on SNL and get out of Vegas. She's aging and it's because her parents still live in the gambling town of no return.

I can't help but love Chelsea Handler. I admit that when she reads off of a teleprompter it is less funny and to some people it is painfully obvious. I never knew Chelsea Handler or her comedy until I saw her live on her "Lies that Chelsea Handler Told Me" tour. That show was outrageously funny and since then I've appreciated her casual, callous, quick-witted, and self-depricating personality and sense of humor. I feel as though you can't appreciate her solely based on Chelsea Lately because it's rehearsed. The interviews are the best part of the show when she can bring out that sharp tongue and mach-5 wit. This entire comment seems exceptionally biased and idealized looking back at what I've written, but I do believe that the best way to put it is that Chelsea Handler is honest, honestly funny in such a way that rehearsal only hinders her talent.

Hello girdle, it's me, Chelsea.

I see no humor in Chelsea Handler at all. I wonder who is she fu-king now in Hollywood in order to take over Hollywood, Besides having sex with the rappers behind close doors secretly and making fun of beautiful Kirstie Alley in order to make a joke. Which were not at all funny because shes not funny nor attractive.

I don't understand her success at all. I've watched her show but once. My old boss was doing the panel on her program. It was painful to watch. It was very obvious that she was reading a telelprompter, so much so that I was fairly sure she was reading the lines for the very first time. She was stiff, stilted and just plain terrible.

Who cares if you don't like Chelsea? Go watch Monty Python or listen to Larry the Cable Guy or what ever schlock makes you laugh because your too dense to process irony or innuendo.

Verbally eviscerating popular culture is a rare talent.

Chelsea Handler is riding the same wave as Lady Gaga with the "I just don't give a f@*!k" attitude that appeals to today's younger audience.

She can be crude but is more often insightful and dead on correct in her observations and delivery. Not traditionally funny and therefore not for the masses.

She is a liberated woman living on her terms. Go ahead, judge her. It only proves where your little mind is at.

Monty Python... schlock?

If you don't like that humor, fine. But to refer to it as schlock is just being ignorant...

Verbally eviscerating popular culture is a rare talent? Welcome to the internet! And further on your point of Chelsea 'not being for the masses', is that not the opposite of what the article is saying? The article is saying she is taking over Hollywood - people who do that are generally packaged for the "masses" and the fact that she is more often insightful prooves that her attitude is carefully crafted for the masses and amounts to nothing more than marketing. I don't like her comedy, and I wear that as a badge of intelligence.
