iPad WiFi Problems Return After iOS 4.3.3 Release

Ipad Wifi

Back in 2010, a few of the very first iPad customers complained of WiFi problems soon after purchasing the device. At the time, these users said that the device's WiFi connection was very weak or nonexistent, while nearby devices using the same connection showed no problem. Apple was quick to patch the glitch via software update, but the problem seems to have reared its head again.

Many iPad 2 owners have taken to the Apple Forums to report WiFi problems similar to those reported last year. Apparently, the glitch occurs after the user has updated the device's software to Apple's most recent release, iOS 4.3.3.

The bug is affecting more than just iPad 2 customers. Some iPad 1, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch users have also reported connection issues. Cult of Mac reports that 3G connections are affected on some devices, as well.

ReadWriteWeb has posted a quick-fix for users experiencing similar issues: "A temporary workaround is to switch off the Wi-Fi connection, then turn it back on. This will restore the connection until it drops again, but a real fix needs to come from Apple."

Cult of Mac has also published step-by-step instructions for resetting the device, disabling automatic WiFi connection to your network, or resetting your network settings--each of which may solve the problem. "Try each one working your way up to the last one, but don’t do all three unless you have too," Cult of Mac cautions.

Did you notice a connection problems after upgrading your iDevice to iOS version 4.3.3? Share your own solutions in the comments, then check out some of customers' biggest complaints about the iPad 2.

The problem is, according to Jobs, that people are simply using it wrong.

Are these things still made in China by oppressed workers?

Those workers are free to leave and go back to the countryside to starve, is that what you want?

Poverty wasn't eliminated overnight, it took capitalism to do the job. You have to crawl before you can walk.

I think it would be nice if the communist authoritarian system in China collapsed and if U.S. trade policy had a role in hastening that collapse. We didn't have a lot of trade with the USSR. Why did we cozy up with the red Chinese.

Taiwan is the real China.

I hope this not going to be continual thing like the I phone. They do make a good product maybe more application testing before releasing it. Consumer reports-June 2011 issue- just came out with who is on top of the tablets , laptops, netbooks. They have all three Apple tablets I pads products in number 1, 2, 3 positons of the best. But that ZOOM is right behind them and uses android as a operating system which is more stable. Does any one have the zoom what do thin of it? They also list best Security software anti virus software inthe issue Bitdefender was rated number 1,

I didn't hear about iOS crashing. What's this mean?
11:34 PM on 05/15/2011
my iPad2 hasn't crashed yet, and I got it the day it came out. I use it every day, and my little brother and sister use it constantly.

I don't think any objective person would call Android more stable than iOS. They may like the features more but that is a bold and false claim.
11:08 PM on 05/16/2011
Really, that depends on who you believe, Android is not having such diffculites after a release. No bold false claims-FACTS,

Weak spots for iOS
For the iPhone and iPad the number one draw is ease of use. Your toddler and your grandmother (the one who is intimidated by computers) can both pick up one of these devices and figure out how to use it. As Jerry Pournelle says, with Apple products “everything is either very simple or it’s utterly impossible.” The utterly impossible side is where we find Apple’s first weak spot. week spots ios,
Software inflexibility, Productivity limitations, Fewer hardware choices, WINNER: Android. iOS’ Safari offers a very good browsing experience, but Android supports Flash, so you won’t find any dead-end sites. It also provides more sharing options. Plus, there are plenty of free add-ons for Google’s OS that make surfing sweeter.

They must be using Windows Vista as the backbone to iOS.

Apple quality control is getting to be a joke. How about their lies? We don't track our customers, we track our customers. What a load of PR nonsense!

So glad I loaded up the HP today. I sat down at my computer and Itunes jumped up and said download the update. I started the download and had 18 minutes until the actual install would occur so I thought I read some posts and find this. Now, do I think this is a common problem? No, but I'll wait for the next update

My iPad wifi worked great until I updated to the first 4.0 ios. Has been losing wifi connection since November. 2nd update didn't fix the problem. I discourage anyone from purchasing iPad now.
04:14 PM on 05/14/2011
ipad2 makes cell phone calls as well as the iphone 4 does.
04:13 PM on 05/14/2011
stop your belly aching. apple is so good that this can't be a bug, it must be a new feature. Perhaps a new firewall feature that simply blocks all connections to the internet, all the time.
06:03 PM on 05/14/2011
the traditional apple was supposed to keep the doctor away. this one not so much. every update seems to bring new headaches. but you're right steve jobs will tout it as a new feature just like how that iphone came with a new add on called duct tape :-)

No problem with my iPad or the 16 I configured and issued to sales staff this week

we both know they wont... apple never has issues in their heads... it's always a user error... remember the infamous "you're holding it wrong" response to the antennae issue?

Why would you buy iPads for a sales staff? I would think something a tad more rodust in the advertizing capability department...even a MacBook...would have been a wiser choice.

My iPad works great. Never had a problem.

Hate Apple much?

Just because some people on Apple's tech support forum have a problem doesn't make it a massively wide spread one. Go to any Android phone's forum and see a plethora of complaints but nobody reports on them because nobody cares about the problems of a device that only sold decently well.
