Kate Winslet For St. John Knits: 'I'm Obviously Not A Model' (PHOTOS)

Women's Wear Daily went behind the scenes of Kate Winslet's St. John Knits' fall 2011 campaign, the first fashion advertisement shoot for the actress. Striking a pose in a Jersey City movie theater, Winslet told the fashion newspaper, "They want to keep it looking like me and not have it look like me pretending to be a model wearing these clothes. I'm obviously not a model. I'm not the size of a model. I don't have the face of a model or the shape of a model."

She said that she's worn several of St. John's pieces before, but wouldn't describe the brand's enthusiasts as "mature," per se, noting, "It seems fresher than that because of the fabrics. They're extremely delicate, extremely wearable and very flattering." Jim Gold, president of specialty retail for the Neiman Marcus Group, seems to be on the same wardrobe wavelength, shilling the duds to a (hopefully) younger clientele, but, "When I say young, I don't mean twentysomething or thirtysomething. I mean getting the fortysomething customer."

Well, he's already got Kate. One step at a time.

yes she does. hard to believe that James Cameron kept calling Kate "fat" while filming Titanic. i wouldn't work with him again either

A "heavier woman"???? What are you smoking? She's probably a size 6 or so. Nowhere near heavy by any standard other than a chauvinist or a woman with eating disorder issues.

I don't think she's fishing for compliments at all. People are a bit judgmental when they see actresses 'modelling' clothes instead of actual models, so it sounds like Kate is clearing up the fact that she's not trying to be a model. 'I'm not a model, I'm an actress so don't expect this wonderful high quality model pose, etc'. St. John went in the direction of choosing an actress, they don't want her to behave as the typical model with the 'right' face or shape or size.

her face looks old now that she's too thin. She would have the face and figure for high fashion if she gained a little weight back.

Face for it maybe, definitely not the figure for it. You don't get a figure for high fashion by gaining weight.
