'Ambiguously Gay Duo' Returns To 'SNL' As Jon Hamm & Jimmy Fallon (VIDEO)

First Posted: 05/15/11 01:01 PM ET Updated: 07/15/11 06:12 AM ET

When Robert Smigel's "Ambiguously Gay Duo" (voiced by Stephen Colbert & Steve Carell) returned to "SNL" on Saturday, it looked as though fans would be treated simply to a new episode featuring the beloved "TV Funhouse" characters. But something infinitely more cool, and sort of disturbing (but in a good way) was in store.

When the villains fire a "flesh ray" at Ace & Gary, they are suddenly transformed into live action versions of themselves, embodied by Jon Hamm & Jimmy Fallon. Colbert and Carrell also turn up as the villains are transmogrified into the real world shortly thereafter.

Watching Fallon and Hamm act out the daring "feats" of the duo is something to behold; we wonder how many takes it took to get some of these shots.

I am fascinated that you guys don't see the genius in this. Very well done. A+++++++

For the gay members that are upset with this sketch, I'm wondering if you feel the same outrage when Colbert does his Esteban Colberto or Ching Chong Ding Dong characters? Or when Jon puts on a Texan hat and accent.

It's satire and you are suppose to feel a little uncomfortable.

I'm not going to read through 14 pages of comments now, but anyone who didn't think this was just plain silly - and a little on the mark: "gay porn sites are very secure", so true! - could use an attitude adjustment.

How come I am seeing an old animated episode and not the live action sketch? Did NBC have a cow over you guys posting a clip from SNL without their permission?

were they always the voices? Once about every month SNL has a funny 5 minute skit...unless Arcade Fire is on, in which case its accidentally hilarious 2x in one night

Beyond hilarious!
The best thing is to DVR SNL then run through since there are usually some pearls among the lame--

I thought What's Up With That was very funny and great to see Lindsay Buckingham too.

Jon Hamm's name is misspelled "John"
on the credits. That's what he gets for his "John Ham" sketch on SNL.

That was an extremely underrated sketch. Just quietly absurd.

Jon Hamm is the best guest host on SNL since Alec Baldwin. No recent host except Justin Timberlake comes close to Hamm--certainly not the rather bland Ed Helms.

Best skit of the night!

Best skit with this kind of humor since the 1987-1988 Siskel & Ebert all-male movies spoof (featuring "Pizza Boy", "Boynapped", and "Black Heat."

"Quick Gary! Come on my back!"

If laughing hysterically at this bit means I'm juvenile, then so be it. That is funny stuff.
