Lady Gaga's Twitter Account Reaches 10 Million Followers

Lady Gaga has broken another Twitter record.

Late Saturday night, the pop sensation's Twitter account notched its 10 millionth follower. She is the microblogging site's first user to pass this milestone.

Mama Monster tweeted her thanks to her 10 million (and counting) Twitter fans. (You can view her tweet below.)

The second most-followed tweeter is Justin Bieber, who has over 9.65 million tweeps and is closing in fast on Gaga's Twitter crown, according to MediaBistro.

Twitter announced in April that the site now has over 200 million accounts.

I'm not really a fan of Lady Gaga's sound & attire. She's too outrageous for my personal taste. I do respect that she knows exactly who she is & is proud of that. So many people try to conform & be popular; Lady Gaga doesn't. Though I'm not a fan of her sound, I do agree with her message.

I'm a bit of a music snob. When I first heard of Lady Gaga, I was quick to dismiss her as a talentless fad. I started watching her Monster Ball special on TV one night for a lack of anything else to do. I have to now admit that I like her. She is talented. She can play instruments. She has a lovely voice. Those of you who say horrible things about her need to open your minds. She has more talent that most "musicians" these days. I won't be buying her CD anytime soon, but I do appreciate her and her message of being yourself. Maybe if we learned to be less judgmental, the world would be a better place.

I went through the exact same thing. I didn't want to fall for the hype, but when I saw her live performances on youtube, I simply couldn't deny her talent. Also appreciate her message and the way she stands up for the LGBT community. Fanned and faved!

She may wear eccentric outfits- as did Elton John, Prince, Madonna and many others, but it is her own style, she is extremely creative- and as far as being "real" watch the video I linked. It may not be your style, but she does have actual talent and ability, its not all about auto tune or technology. I'm a classically trained cellist, 37 years old, and I love Lady Gaga.

we're in our 60's and we like lady gaga. i hope that isn't the kiss of death. we think her music is great and we realize that she is a great musician and that she is doing performance art. she also stands up for what she believes in.

but that's precisely what puts her in a league of her own... every pop star, especially female, relies on society's vision of "pretty" and then pumps that up... to be adored..

gaga at least has the guts to embrace ugly... no, its not curing cancer.. .but within the realm in which she plays... its a bit groundbreaking... not even madonna had the guts to go "ugly"... so the comparisons to her career are way off as well....

Once again, people who simply don't understand and haven't bothered to do the research swoop in to pillory GaGa primarily because she looks funny. Unlike Madonna (who admittedly hired talented collaborators), she is a very accomplished musician as anyone who has seen her live show can attest. She is REAL and a true artist in many ways that the "brands" of the Madonnas and Brittanys of the world are not. And what does GaGa do ALL of the time? Make movies or television shows? Relax by the pool in Beverly Hills? No. She tours, tours, tours performing before her fans because she quite honestly believes that she OWES them that. Anyone that has seen her live, and the expense that she lavishes on her show, and that every night she leaves nothing behind in the dressing room, just can't believe that she is doing it for the money or notoriety. For those out there making the "don't have a life" comments, go back to your video games, NCIS series, smut, or whatever other crap you are watching while the rest of us are dancing at the club to Lady GaGa.
