First Posted: 05/17/11 08:25 AM ET   Updated: 07/17/11 06:12 AM ET

It's a wild and varied staff at Huffington Post and the reporters are avid readers. They've got favorites they're in the middle of reading and we thought you'd want to know what's getting the attention of our writers. There's a great mix of fiction and non-fiction, award winners and books you might have missed. And you'll see we're not light on history or great literature. Let us know how you feel about these--we'd love to hear your thoughts and about the books you're in the middle of reading that you love.

two points.

1. Not a single Vonnegut novel at all? "Salughterhouse-Five" and "Welcome to the Monkey House" are required reading for everyone!!!!

2. No Sci-Fi? It's a serious genre! Try something by Richard K. Morgan or Karen Traviss or even Michael Crichton.

Why would I want to read a book based on the title, author, front cover, and some book reviewer I don't know?

I'm a historical fiction, historical biography, historical mystery fan - currently reading a book I never got around to reading but have had for a long time on my 'to read' pile. By Elizabeth Chadwick, The Greatest Knight: The Untold Story of The Queen's Champion" about William Marshall, Regent of England, who served under 4 kings, was admired and respected by both sides of the barons who forced King John to sign the Magna Carta, one of the most important documents in England's history and a basis for our laws, constution, etc. Should be required study/reading for all middle school students.

Just finished "Whistling Vivaldi: and other clues to how stereotypes affect us" by Claude Steele-easy and interesting read. Now reading "A History of African Americans in North Carolina" by J. Crow, P. Escott, and F. Hatley. Wanted to find out more about family and their life.

What Huffington Post reporters ought to be reading is something on english grammar, sentence structure and punctuation. Maybe something along the lines of the value of proof reading would be enlightening for them as well.

I wrote a book called Defending Socialism, you can purchase at Lulu.com. It's a short strange book still looking for it's audience. I have managed to piss off both the right and left of the political divide with this one. I am hoping that if I can sell enough copies of Defending Socialism and make a good profit, I can launch my dream of becoming a locally run boiled peanut vendor.

Yes, that's what Socialism needs, more satire. Harrison Bergeron approves.
