Kim Kardashian, Kris Humphries Engaged: Reality Star, NBA Player To Wed

NEW YORK - Another hoops star will join the Kardashian clan.

People Magazine reported Wednesday that reality star Kim Kardashian is engaged to her boyfriend of six months, New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries. Sister Khloe Kardashian and Los Angeles Laker Lamar Odom were married in 2009.

Kim Kardashian told People that she was in "shock" when she entered her Beverly Hills, Calif., home last week to discover Humphries on bended knee with "will you marry me" spelled out in rose petals.

Humphries, 26, gave Kardashian, 30, a 20.5-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond ring.

The family stars in the E! reality show "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and spinoffs, including "Khloe and Lamar."

I would respect them so much more if they had platinum bands and started a foundation in honor of their wedding. However, the more ridiculous these celebrities become, the more we are to the "vomit" point with this kind of self-absorbed, all-about-me, media-addicted, decadent materialism. So, the Kardashians are proving to be fabulous for the evolution of our species. The tide is changing. My heroes are all the working families in our country desperately trying to give their kids the best life they possibly can on barely livable wages. They shop at Goodwill, drive old cars and take the kids to all the "free" events in their community. They hug big and laugh hard, many times through their tears.

What's most irritating about this whole story is the impending circus that will develop around this wedding. I'm really ready for all of the Kardashians--and the rest of the people famous for nothing--to go away, and now I'm guaranteed to be subjected to at least another year of their foolishness.

Kim is hot, she and her mother have done a masterful job of self promotion and family promotion and many people who hate them are clearly just jealous or envious of them as they could easily be ignored. We all are born with certain talents and Kim has used her ASSets to her advantage. I don't get the hate.

Really the only problem I have is that they are all famous simply because of Kim's sex tape, which she wishes never happened but has turned into a multi-millionare dollar business. Its hard to cheer for smart business people whose businesses don't actually do anything of value. Its also discouraging to our culture that Kim's biggest assests are not her mind or talent or something she produces but her cleavage... that's America for you though
