You'll never get this up close and personal with a wild lion.
While shooting for an upcoming book on lions at Tswalu Kalahari Game Reserve in South Africa, Roger and Pat de la Harpe had an unexpected encounter with this female lion, who not only snuck up on a camera they left behind, but decided to take it with her. The result is an astounding look at what it might be like to be played with and carried off by lions.
The camera's recovery seems to have been quite a feat as well. After the lioness dropped the camera in the bush, the team of photographers had to painstakingly comb the high grass in search of it, while the lions prowled nearby.
Dangerous as it may have been, they got some incredible footage.
