"Did the US Play a Role in Cyber Virus..."

Of course they did. If you had any question about it at all, the Pentagon conclusion that a cyber attack from another country would be an act of war seals it. "Do as we say, not as we do" is so much a part of American Forign policy it should be carved in stone at the State Dept.

Please, HP - provide those of us with less than sterling bandwidth the option of reading a transcript.....since the merger, I've seen LOTS more video-only stories, and if you don't have a fiber-optic cable running to your house, this is just frustrating.
Remember, if you would, that just because the USA Invented the Internet, that we are NOT #1 in terms of available bandwidth, but rather, thanks to our plutocratic oligarchy not wanting to invest in infrastructure, we are #17

Because Israel has them, IMO Iran will develop nukes regardless even if its current regime is toppled and replaced with a pro-West one.
03:56 PM on 05/31/2011
Everyone has known this since the 60's. Everyone except Israel, that is. How they thought having nukes was going to be anything like a deterrent is beyond me. Perhaps that's why they swear that they don't actually have any, even though photos exist... Way to stem those Arabic Conspiracies, oh sons of Abraham...

Of course the Defense Secretary is not going to confirm or deny any US involvenent. this is a non-story. The non-response provides exacly zero information.

This is, quite frankly, intriguing. Now Cyber attacks are having such an impact on geo-political relations, I wonder to what extent super-power goverments will invest in experimental cybernetic technologies. It is interesting that Iran's reaction is to create its own internet!

This is a surprise? Why the CIA has to be like a kid in a candy store right now...

Perhaps in a sane country like Canada this would be shocking, but here in the US the only way that this would be surprising at all is if the US had the ability to run a cyber terror attack, and didn't. Now that would shock me!

Of course US is responsible, then when the blow back comes, we hear the silly refrain - why do they hate us?
09:24 AM on 05/31/2011
Are you suggesting that the US ignore Iran's nuclear weapons program so that they will like us?

Ae you suggesting that we should interfere in Iran's nuclear program and inadvertently cause a nuclear catastrophe inside Iran?

What Iranian nuclear weapon program?

I hope we played a role in Stuxnet. Other than OBL it doesn't seem like we get that much ROI for our defense budget..

How could the USA NOT have played a role in that attack? Of course elements of the US government were involved, if nothing else to help fund it. It was a stroke of genius, to destroy their very expensive centrifuges without a single shot fired or anyone hurt.
11:24 AM on 05/31/2011
According to IAEA that monitors the Natanz facility, Stuxnet destroyed roughly a 1000 IR-1 centrifuges that were quickly replaced with the new IR-4 centrifuges and caused no slow down in their program. Now, Iran has this virus that they could twik and use against us with full legal justification.

That's what happens when 1000 Iranian nuclear "experts" double click on that naked Muslim Virgin e-mail in the same day without virus protection.

The US and Israel are responsible for Stuxnet. My guess is that we are working on another computer virus to attack Iran even as I write this. Long live ours' and Israeli computer scientists who are doing their part and more to save the world.

Look I support Stuxnet, but to say it saved the world is a bit much.

If anything it saved us a lot of money in intelligence by setting the clownish immams and Iranian military 5-20 years.
Don't forget Iran is not the only rogue nation to try and get nuclear weapons, add Pakistan and North Korea to the list.
Also don't forget Israel's nuclear weapons are undeclared and free from proliferation control the US has imposed on itself, Russia and all other nations. Bibi is trustworthy, but that guy Lieberman who is in his cabinet is super suspect.

My understanding is that our cyber Intel is so intertwined with Is real, that if you said one did it, then both did it.
12:00 AM on 05/31/2011
Actually, while our politicians are bought and paid for, the military and intelligence don't trust Israel at all and have blocked a lot of sensitive technologies from falling in their hands.
04:19 PM on 05/31/2011
Too bad Israel treats the US just like any other nation (regardless of the funding and saber-rattling on their behalf...), and have been caught in the past embedding spies in the US. Not that once they were caught they went on trial or anything...

America and Israel team on a lot of things. If these countries delayed the Iranian nuclear program and did not have to send brave young soldiers in harms way-----I'd like to offer my congratulations to them both. Keep up the great work, hopefully it cost Iran hundreds of millions of dollars.

Team on what? Nothing. US gives money, weapons and vetos UN resolutions, and Israel asks for more.

You know, I think you are right. We need to be pursuing alliances with Syria, Hezbollah, Saudi Arabia, reaproachment with Iran, and Pakistan. The Israelis just don't have the same values as us.
