Vogue Italia Puts Three Plus-Size Models On June Cover (PHOTOS)

Always ready to up the body image ante, Vogue Italia's June issue celebrates curvy models, with a trio of plus-sized beauties posing for the cover. Tara Lynn, Candice Huffine and Robyn Lawley lean over plates of spaghetti in their lingerie, and inside, Marquita Pring is added to the mix for Steven Meisel's lens.

The glossy's editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani recently told Women's Wear Daily, "We help [plus-size women] dress fashionably. We say: It's pointless for you to buy leggings, take this because this will look good on you. We help them choose. We don't talk about diets because they don't want to be on a diet, but it's not a ghetto. Why should these women slim down? Many of the women who have a few extra kilos are especially beautiful and also more feminine."

In March, Sozzani launched a petition against pro-anorexia websites. You can read more about that here.

Check out several photographs below. And head over to Vogue.it to see the rest (warning: NSFW at the link).

The woman on the table in the stilettos. Her weight, these shoes. So many like her over the years, destroying wooden floors. Vandals. Stupidity.

I had to click back to this article today just because the picture is so gorgeous.

These women look like WOMEN!! remember seeing a post"lovin" scene in the time Travelers's wife .... my friend & I looked at each other in amazement!! The actress had bones sticking out her back like wings and you could play xylophones on her spinal cord..... imagine all those bones poking everywhere while being intimate?! Somewhere read the line that skinny is great for draping clothes, pleasantly plump better when nude.... these ladies would look great either way!

So awesome!!!! THIS is what the world needs to see. THIS is what young girls, teenagers, and all women should see as beautiful. Plus size, what's that? To me, these women are gorgeous, flawless, and down right gorgeous. Perhaps if we embraced all shapes and sizes then the beauty industry wouldn't be so warped with the insanity. Perhaps then the unrealistic pressures wouldn't overflow upon young children, girls, and women who feel the must look a certain way to have value to them. Perhaps eating disoders would not be increasing each and every year. The more we stand up for what TRUE beauty is then the better we chance we have of raising young girls and boys with a strong self-esteem and worth. THIS ROCKS!

Unrealistic pressures make women hate themselves, and women who hate themselves spend lots and lots of money to try and and obtain perfection, even as their bodies deteriorate due to a totally natural phenomenon that affects us all....aging.

Unrealistic expectations = Profit margin

That's why I don't really expect anything to change in the industry. It is up to us to teach our daughters that there is more to life than flawless skin and visable pelvic bones.

Good on you for appreciating the photo spread, though. It IS refreshing. However IMHO, until starvation is the norm and being fat is a sign of wealth, this is merely a blip on the radar screen.

I don't know what size these models are--they certainly don't look over a size 12. That they are deemed 'plus size' is part of the problem, I think.

Actually in the fashion industry "plus size models" can range from a size 8-14... which is kind of crazy... A size 8 is about average size.

Beautiful! And Italian Vouge of all things? Europe usually isn't as curvy friendly as I understand. These women are amazing ^_^.

Mmmm...those curves. I don't know why so many men are afraid of curves. Instead they want to be able to feel bone when they're smashin. Haha

Honestly, a beautiful woman is a beautiful woman no matter what her form is and as long as her doctor declares that she is reasonably healthy. Kudos to Vogue Italia for celebrating one kind of beauty.

Only someone who is incredibly ignorant thinks that it's okay to body-shame someone for being different to you.

Plenty of women are naturally skinny, and they deserve confidence respect just as much as any other woman.

I find your ignorance and your horrible attitude really laughable. Real women come in all shapes and sizes - from very thin to very thick. If you honestly can't see that, there's something wrong with you. If you can see that, and you still think it's okay to body snark, there's something wrong with you.

When I saw the headline "plus -size models", I expected what American magazines call "plus size"--like an 8! These women actually have curves and the extra weight to be called plus size. Of course they are photoshopped--as even the skinny models always are--but they look beautiful and sexy. Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, anyway--and the implication that there is something wrong about a woman having curves is ridiculous. Her brains, her heart, her talent--those are the things that make a woman truly amazing, no matter her size.
