Daphne Guinness On Getting Dressed, Being 'Completely Normal' (VIDEO)

Trying to explain fashion's ubiquitous yet enigmatic Daphne Guinness is harder than walking in a pair of Alexander McQueen Armadillo shoes (or so we'd imagine). Better to hear the fashion plate explain herself in her own words, as she does in Nowness' short film entitled "Daphne's Window."

Backed by ominous music, the artsy video takes a peek inside Daphne's chic Fifth Avenue apartment as she sketches butterflies, picks out clothes from her enviable wardrobe, and does yoga poses in a claustrophobic mirrored hallway while wearing a cocktail dress (naturally). Scattered amongst these shots are the socialite's many musings, including the following:

"I don't think about myself in the world. Me is nothing. I'm just someone who's living in 2011. I just am who I am. And then when people label me eccentric or different, I'm kind of astonished because I think, 'This is completely normal. This is just how I am, it's how I've always been.' And that's why I gravitated towards people that were as shy as I was and we all sort of huddled together, like on a raft."

Also included is behind-the-scenes footage from the performance art piece wherein Guinness got ready for the recent Met Gala in the front window of Barneys, putting on her McQueen feathered frock before a crowd of onlookers. For someone who claims to be quite shy, girl does love herself a good attention-grabbing dress.
