Naomie Harris: New Bond Girl In 'Bond 23'?

Naomie Harris

The name's Harris. Naomie Harris.

With the next James Bond film, for now titled "Bond 23," getting its pre-production wheels in motion, word is breaking that Harris, the actress best known for her roles in the second two "Pirates of the Caribbean" films, is leading the field of hopefuls vying for the much coveted Bond Girl role.

Entertainment Weekly late Monday confirmed an earlier report from the British tabloid News of the World that Harris is in contention for the part, receiving word from an Eon Productions spokesperson that she has met with producers about taking on the role.
If Harris does nail down the part, she'll take over as the lady co-lead for reigning James Bond Daniel Craig, who was joined by Olga Kurylenko in 2008's "Quantum of Solace" and "Eva Green" in his first Bond film, 2006's hit "Casino Royale."

Already, rumor has it that Javier Bardem has been offered the part of one of the villains in the film.

Meanwhile, Craig's next immediate onscreen lady will be Olivia Wilde in next month's "Cowboys and Aliens." And after that, he'll appear on screen with girlfriend Rachel Weisz in "Dream House."

Btw: If they really want to revive the series how about a remake of 'Live and Let Die' ? I have a suggestion for an interesting twist on the role of 'Solitaire' considering Daniel Craig's ironic proclivities [which is just awesome!]

I can't believe no one apparently remembers Naomie from "After the Sunset" when she shared the big screen with former Bond Pierce Brosnan. The lady displayed quite an amazing bod in the scenes with crazy Woody Harrelson. Style and grace and good acting chops. It will be exciting to see her in a true block buster.

Oh...right! She's the actress from '28 Days Later', the best zombie flick of all time. For that alone she get's my vote. The role in 'Pirates of the Caribbean' was beneath her though...at least to me.

She's pretty and probably a very good actress. Not the best looking black woman, but I think all of them are doing Tyler Perry movies.

Controversy to sell tickets, because Quantum of Solace was trash. This could be possibly be the second black woman Bong Girl after Grace Jones.....I don't count Halle Berry, she's biracial, and I believe because of it doors opened for her while still being closed for others.

She has a natural beauty, much like Halle Berry. I think she'll do fine, enjoyed her performances in the otherwise awful remake of Miami Vice, and in 28 Days Later. Her talent was pretty much a wash in her small role in the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' series. I think I would definitely go see the next Bond movie with her in it; she and Craig would be double box-office dynamite.

Is it just me or does she resemble a younger Oprah? I think she's gorgeous but I haven't seen a Bond movie since Sean Connery and those were on TV.

I'm with you on that thought. I think it's the eyes and nose combination...maybe the hair style adds.

Wow, she looks completely different without the 'Pirates' make-up. Now if only the director proves more competent than Marc Forster; Quantum of Solace was a total mess.

Quantum of Solace is great to me. I didn't enjoy it the first time I watched it but the second time blew me away. It's all about Bond being a very angry man and getting revenge for his sweetheart.

Bond's behavior I completely understand. It's the rest of the movie that I have trouble with, in particular the director's style of filming and editing.

Oh, she's terrific. I might actually go see it if she's in it

My bet is no. I cannot see Hollywood giving a black woman such a role. A light skinned black maybe

Never heard of her and the photo above is not very flattering so I g.oogled her name and clicked Images and see that she is very pretty indeed. I'm not sure if she has the elegant, model vibe that a lot of A.frican American women have that I would expect from a Bond girl but we will see..

She's not African-American, she's English! Major difference.
