Bryan Stow Beating Case Shifts To Elite Robbery Homicide Division

Bryan Stow

The LAPD announced that the department has transferred the Bryan Stow beating case to the Robbery Homicide Division (RHD), reports the LA Times.

The elite group investigates high profile crimes like serial murders, human trafficking, and kidnapping for ransom, according to the LAPD. A snapshot of their past cases:

the "Black Dahlia" murder, the assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy, the Charles Manson "family" murders, the "Hillside Strangler"murders, the "Skid Row Slasher" murders, the Bittaker and Norris kidnap/murders, the "Freeway Strangler"murders, the "Sunset Slayer" murders, the "Bob’s Big Boy massacre," the "Nightstalker" murders, the O.J. Simpson case, the murder of Ennis Cosby, the North Hollywood "shootout" at the Bank of America, the "Grim Sleeper"murders and the murder of Christopher Wallace (aka Notorious B.I.G.).

While Chief Charlie Beck insists that the LAPD has more than enough evidence to try Ramirez, the delay in filing with the District Attorney coupled with the case reassignment may signal weaknesses in the case that the police refuse to admit.

Currently, suspect Giovanni Ramirez is being held in jail on charges that he violated his parole, something his lawyers emphasize is completely unrelated to the Dodgers Stadium attack. LA Weekly also points out that Ramirez's defense team has been vocal about the alibis they can produce, as well as possible video surveillance that will show the suspect with a full head of hair on the day of the attack.

Let's hope that there is less concealment and manipulation of evidence they used in the OJ Simpson trial to create the so called "Trial of the Century".

Why Robbery-Homicide? Did Stow die?

I suspect that LAPD has a lot more evidence than they are sharing with the media. Also, if the alleged perp is so innocent, why has his defense team not come forward with anything but theories? They could end the case and free their client with some hard evidence. Why haven't they done so?

I totally agree with you, but as for the last question- he is being held on parole violations for other unrelated charges.

The his lawyers, you mean to tell me in this age cell phones that not one of Ramirez's friends or family do not have a dated picture of Ramirez with his "full head of hair". Come on.

This is such a tragic American story. While I hope they catch the varlets, there is nothing that can ever be done to assuage the family. I am boycotting Dodger Stadium. This is shameful.

Let's face it, for whatever the reasons, police departments aren't very good at solving crimes, and this incident has already gotten a special kind of attention that wouldn't have been given to anyone attacked outside of the stadium that's name is associated with the city itself. It now appears that they've got the wrong guy after making a big deal out of incarcerating him, so they have transferred the case to the high profile" "elite group" of investigators. But it's not the victim that qualifies for the "elite" investigators here, it's the stadium, the wealthy stadium owner's, and the reputation of the city itself that qualify the use of this group.

I agree with you the sports industry is all about high dollars the stadium owner should be held liable for the attack. Poor sercurity lead to this and a week later their was another attack on a family leaving the stadium. This time it was an off-duty cop who shot and killed one of the perps the cop suffered head injury after being hit with a bat. I said this before this does not happen in NYC. We flood the stadium with cops and the yankee's security team is on the ball it sad when someone is injured due to greed.

Why didn't they use this team the first week of the incident? It was getting big headlines back two months ago.

Because this team is dedicated to investigating murders.
