Bryan Stow Beating Case Shifts To Elite Robbery Homicide Division

What Took So Long For The LAPD To Assign The Bryan Stow Case To A Elite Division?

The LAPD announced that the department has transferred the Bryan Stow beating case to the Robbery Homicide Division (RHD), reports the LA Times.

The elite group investigates high profile crimes like serial murders, human trafficking, and kidnapping for ransom, according to the LAPD. A snapshot of their past cases:

the "Black Dahlia" murder, the assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy, the Charles Manson "family" murders, the "Hillside Strangler"murders, the "Skid Row Slasher" murders, the Bittaker and Norris kidnap/murders, the "Freeway Strangler"murders, the "Sunset Slayer" murders, the "Bob’s Big Boy massacre," the "Nightstalker" murders, the O.J. Simpson case, the murder of Ennis Cosby, the North Hollywood "shootout" at the Bank of America, the "Grim Sleeper"murders and the murder of Christopher Wallace (aka Notorious B.I.G.).

While Chief Charlie Beck insists that the LAPD has more than enough evidence to try Ramirez, the delay in filing with the District Attorney coupled with the case reassignment may signal weaknesses in the case that the police refuse to admit.

Currently, suspect Giovanni Ramirez is being held in jail on charges that he violated his parole, something his lawyers emphasize is completely unrelated to the Dodgers Stadium attack. LA Weekly also points out that Ramirez's defense team has been vocal about the alibis they can produce, as well as possible video surveillance that will show the suspect with a full head of hair on the day of the attack.
