NYC Turkish Taco Truck Gets Liquor License

Turkish Taco Truck Liquor

06/10/11 08:53 AM ET   AP

NEW YORK -- A Manhattan food truck now offers beer, wine and cocktails.

The Wall Street Journal says a street vendor called the Turkish Taco Truck is expanding its liquid menu starting Friday.

The truck is parked outside the space formerly occupied by Tavern on the Green in Central Park.

Under a one-year liquor license, the truck is allowed to sell alcohol that will be consumed within a seating area there.

The Journal points out that the restriction would likely hamper curbside food trucks, which have no enclosed spaces.

I thought that in the City consumption of alcohol on the streets is prohibited. How are they going to get around this?

If you stop and think about it, whats wrong with it. if people not driving are having a beer or wine with their meals, whats the problem? Its the people who drink and drive we should be concerned about.

If you ever get tired of hearing old New Yorkers say that New York isn't what it used to be, then this article is proof that they really know what they are talking about.

I'm skeptical of Turkish tacos, sounds like booze might be necessary to accompany them...

The name of the truck is Pera Turkish Tacos, and the food is excellent. http://tinyurl.com/3f289k5
