Valentijn De Hingh, Transgender Model, Was Subject Of Nine-Year Documentary (PHOTOS)

Her name may not be as recognizable as Lea T.'s, but Valentijn de Hingh is another gorgeous transgender model rising through high fashion's ranks.

Having recently shot an editorial for Love magazine with Patrick Demarchelier and a video for Vogue Italia, the leggy Amsterdam native is returning to the spotlight after spending almost ten years as the subject of a documentary on transgender children.

She was filmed from the time she was an eight-year-old boy and after the documentary aired on Dutch television in 2007, Valentijn underwent gender reassignment surgery. She moved on to a career in modeling, scoring spots on the runways of Maison Martin Margiela and Comme des Garcons. Currently studying literature in Amsterdam, she dreams of a career in fashion journalism...but it seems like right now might be her moment to strut her stuff on the runways.

to me thats a strange thing to say..it's like saying your glad you weren't born schizophrenic..by that i mean schizophrenia isn't that common and neither is Gender Identity Disorder so odds are you wouldn't have been born that way

I think I'll need to do some further research into more photos... maybe get a poster or something... got to find myself a good one of Pejic too. Androgeny is sexy.

Also, is this documentary only available in Dutch, or is there a realistic chance of me finding it in English? If there's an English version, what's it called. The Onion Man is always interested in a good documentary about a times-relevant subject.

Transgender male to females are perfect for the straight line single digit percentage of body fat that's so in demand. However, after the sensationalist aspect dies down, I don't imagine other women with deep pockets who can spend on frivolty will appreciate the distraction of this side show either.

This, by the way, is case-in-point why ensuring that youth who say they are trans are allowed to transition. If you can stop the body from going through a male puberty, you can stop it from producing gender ques that can, in most cases, be a source of internal and external stress for the rest of their lives.

Also, please don't call her a boy, It's willfully ignorant. What boy would go through all this?

Trans-gender is outsider speak. A transwoman sees herself as a woman, before surgery and after surgery. You "guys" are the ones who need the trans prefix, not them.
