Vancouver Whitecaps forward Eric Hassli scored what might just wind up being the MLS goal of the season on Saturday night against the Seattle Sounders in a 2-2 road draw.

The beauty of the goal wasn't just that it came late in the match when Vancouver was down a goal against their local rivals. It was that Hassli did it from distance off of a volley -- he played the ball high over a defender to set up the shot -- without being able to see the goal.

The 30-year-old Frenchman admitted that it wasn't all skill that guided the ball into the net. "I closed my eyes and shot," he told the Seattle Times. "I had a lot of luck there."

Regardless, Hassli showed great skill in getting himself into position for the strike, and showed one of the key traits of being a great goal-scorer: Attack the goal no matter where you are on the pitch.

What a great game! too bad for the whitecaps who cant seem to win, even with the top notch comebacks they have had this year.

I am very glad this made it on huffpost. it was the highlight of the night for sure.

Sick sick goal, the fact that it happened against the Flounders in Seattle makes it that much sweeter. Hard to win the Cascadia when your two home games are both ties, against expansion teams no less.
