Jon Stewart Mocks Sarah Palin Email Dump, Media's Overreaction (VIDEO)

WATCH: Stewart Mocks Media's Blowout Of Palin Emails

When it was reported that 24,000 of Sarah Palin's emails from her time as Governor of Alaska would be released, the media pretty much entered "Defcon one." Or at least that's how Jon Stewart described it on Monday night's "Daily Show," when he criticized the media for making mountains out of boring correspondence.

The 24-hour news cycle had a field day Friday speculating as to what, if any, secrets would be revealed about the former Vice Presidential candidate. For the first time in weeks, the attention wasn't all on Anthony Weiner or his wiener, although in his speculation about the emails, Stewart definitely went there ("What if they're all Twitter d**k pictures?").

So why the arbitrary release of such non-urgent documents? Was there really anything hiding in them? One example of the "bombshells" uncovered was an email from a former legislator claiming she saw Palin put her son Trig in the wrong kind of car seat.

"That story better end with Palin getting out of the car and beating the woman with a tire iron or you're wasting our time," Stewart said.

Watch the full segment below to see Stewart show how the 24-hour news networks became so desperate for a Palin scandal, they resorted to existential riddles.
