Paul McCartney Wrigley Field Concert: Former Beatle To Play Chicago On July 31

Here, There, And Everywhere: McCartney To Stop At Wrigley On Tour

Paul McCartney confirmed Monday what many in Chicago already suspected: he'll be playing Wrigley Field this summer.

Last week, Alderman Tom Tunney of the 44th Ward introduced an ordinance to clear the way for concerts at Wrigley on July 31 and August 1. It was widely rumored that McCartney would be filling the dates, and he is indeed.

The former Beatle will be performing on the 31st, with tickets ranging from $34.50 to $255, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. If the first date sells out (which doesn't seem all that unlikely, although Wrigley does have a capacity of 42,000), he may add a show on August 1 as well.

It will be McCartney's first gig in the city since 2005, Fox Chicago reports. NBC has a more obscure tidbit: it's his first time playing in a Chicago baseball stadium since 1965, when he played at the old Comiskey Park with the Beatles.

The booking adds to an impressive roster of mega-acts performing at the city's stadiums this summer: U2 will be taking over Soldier Field on July 5.

McCartney was rumored to play at Wrigley last summer as well, but that date never materialized.

Tickets for this show will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 20.
